This staff loses faith cuts/trades Goodson

I was 100 percent for letting D-will go and keeping Goody that would have saved us millions. And Goodson would have done well in the read-option.

Exactly JT, these few fans who felt the need to comment about how much they loved my post are apparently as clueless about football as Panthers management is in fielding a winning team.

Since the end of last season the majority of personel decision this front office has made has been a comedy of errors.

-Not trying to upgrade the RG position the weakest spot on your Oline.

-Releasing Wharton a reliable veteran and replacing him with a Div II project.

No wonder the offensive line has been a mess this season.

-Releasing Shockey with no replacement, going into the season w/one less reliable target for Cam.

-Not going after a proven receiver. 49ers one game away from the Superbowl went out and got Randy Moss, Patriots in the Superbowl went out and signed veteran receiver Brandon Lloyd, Panthers 6-10 record "we like our receivers".

-Trading Goodson our best receiver and biggest home run threat out of the backfield

-Signing Tolbert a goal line and short yardage back who we never use in short yardage situations.

No wonder the offense is out of sinc, Cam is locked in on Smith, is pressing and feeling the pressure of having to do it all.

I won't even comment about what was done on the defensive side of the ball good grief.

Deangelo Williams has 48 attempts for 173 yards...for 40 million dollars. I am going to go ahead and say that keeping Mike Goodson and letting Deangelo walk would have been the right decision for this offense.

I am in total agreement. This is some more of Marty Hurneys bad management decisions. As long as Hurney is pulling the strings, look for a below average Panthers team.

i think that any kind of hand wringing or bitching over mike goodson at this point is rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. out of all the stuff that our FO and coaching staff has completely screwed the pooch on that's about the most insignificant thing i can think of. also it's mighty inconvenient for your argument but not everybody disagreeing with you is blowing hurney either.

really with our current playcalling problems how much better would we have been with mike goodson on this team?

It's not so much about Goodson but more so about the amount of questionable personel decision this organization continues to makes.

The Falcons and other winning franchises are just that, because they are actually proactive in addressing the weaknesses of their teams.

Who happens to actually be a playmaker in this league.. But they have 100% faith in the ability of a guy like Haruki Nakamara...

Tells all you need to know about this staff!

The paint huffing is spreading - this poo like an epidemic.

Where does Goodson fit in with this franchise? We already have three RBs who are better than him PLUS Cam competing for carries. So Goodson has made a few plays for Oakland - whooptieshit. He didn't have a place on this team if for no other reason than the position is crowded. I mean honestly - we already have too many runners, what good would ANOTHER one have done us?

I am no great defender / lover of our staff, especially how we manage personnel, but getting rid of Goodson was a good choice. Find something worth whining about to whine about.

    • I would say the extremes from both camps in these conversations have to do with the blurring of the fact Bryce is a first overall pick and the expectations for that draft slot fair or not far exceed just being a top 20-25 starter amongst your peers. Regardless. All logical Panthers fans want him to be the answer.
    • The offseason is always when hope springs eternal. If you look past that, you can see a very bad roster with a lot more questions than definitive answers. Let's hope we get a lot of those right, because I think we are a lot closer to another impatient Tepper reset than we probably think.
    • These arguments are getting more and more disingenuous from both the pro and anti Bryce crowd. Bryce looked very good for stretches down the final 8 games. He finally showed glimpses of the guy that was projected as a top QB pick in the draft. Bryce also didn't look like a top 10 NFL QB.  I think we are so far removed from Prime Cam that we forget what an elite QB looks like. I could tell that when people were losing their minds and simping for Sam Darnold. This season needs to finally showcase Bryce as a franchise talent. If that doesn't happen, it's time to pivot. There are very few recent examples of QB's struggling or being a mixed bag through the first three seasons of starting and then suddenly becoming frachise caliber players.
