UhhhOhhh. Rivera stepping up. Listen to his tone now.

Coach Ron Rivera talked about Newton on Wednesday and admitted the Panthers may have tried too hard to get overly creative on offense this season.

“He’s had an up and down year,” Rivera said. “He’s done some really good things, and he’s struggling at some other things. … Part of it is about what we’ve done schematically. Part of the things we’ve tried to do is stay ahead of the curve. We may have gotten too far out there.”

“Last year we were a little bit of an unknown commodity. This year we’re a little bit more known. So I think it’s a combination of things.”

I like Jaws but to say "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH CAM NEWTON" is false. When you have more turnovers than TDs at least one thing is wrong.

Clearly.

Jaws has to have a different take. The wheel of espn is Coming full circle. If ten guys comment and among those ten all sane and even some insane takes then the network has it covered.

UMMMMM what's wrong with Cam Newton is he talks too much and he can't close a game in the 4th quarter. Granted it's not all his fault...but I'd like to see him have a 4th quarter comeback win under his belt. Does he even have one?

Yes. He has 1 fourth quarter comeback win. Jacksonville Game. People are giving him that one.

He did the same thing in Cleveland though. He coached an awesome year with an effective game plan that made D. Anderson look like a baller. The next year it was blatant ineptitude. I have never wanted to apply the if it ain't broke philosophy so hard. I agree, the gimmicks have become the base offense.

Bingo. It's like Chud simply can't adapt to defenses adapting to him. Football, especially at the NFL level, is a game of cat and mouse. You have to continually anticipate your opponents' moves and adapt to them. If you aren't, you're going to get figured out.

Last year the offense was kept simple to allow Cam to become comfortable. They opened it up as the season went on. And there was great rejoicing.

So what do they do. Dumb down the offense even more this year. That is not Cam's fault.

Chud was trying to reinvent the curve. Now we are in a very fine mess. Can this turn around? Yes. Will it turn around? Who knows. Chud needs to quit trying to outsmart everyone and get back to calling plays that take advantage of our talent. Quick, aggressive plays work with Cam.

IMO, Cam under center is the scariest thing for a D to see. Mainly because he is moving from the snap. Not just standing there waiting to make a decision. Cam is at his most dangerous when he is moving. Let's get quicker plays, quicker decisions, and get back to being aggressive.

Oh, and GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and others will put him on a pedestal and never fault him for a single thing or place blame on him when blame is due

I will start by saying that I strongly admire the handful of fans on here who can see clearly and isn't caught up in their own personal prejudices or desire to be dumb down by our media. I realize that the group is few but I hope that their voices will be strong enough to counter all the silly ish that is being constantly regurgitated on here every other day about Cam.

I admire them because it seems as if they want the Panthers as a team, to get better and they want the media's attention to be on the team as a whole and not just always up Cam's ass. I hope those fans get their wish and this team will turn that corner to becoming the championship winning and competitive team they dream of.

But in all honesty, I don't see it happening when the media makes it their business to distract you from paying attention to the real issues of this team by undermining everything Cam does and endlessly ranting about it. That is not productive to this team at all.

I speaks as a person who is a lover of this sport and not just a team. I root for all teams because the more competitive the teams are, the more fun the games are to watch.

Now...FYI, Cam is not on a pedestal...Luck is. And unlike Cam, Luck, the media chosen...who went off the board at # 1....isn't being criticized and ridculed up his ass like Cam. Why is that? At last check, this is a kid has all his playcalls on his wrist, yet it's Cam who is labeled by the media as being stupid. I bet you any amount of money that if Cam had the playcall on his wrist many in the media and on here would be justifying their assumption that he's unintelligent.

The media has been ridiculing Cam since he carry Auburn to it's Championship. It's as if they are pissed that he didn't fall when they wanted him too. He came into the draft and they set out to smear him at every turn with nothing more than those tride and true racial stereotypes that is still being used against certain black players today. They even attack Cam becuase Warren Moon called them out.

The media analyzed every ounce of Cam's mechanics. Claiming that they need too because he has a chance of going off the draftboard at # 1 and that's okay. But no such scrutiny was done leveled at Blaine, the QB they chose as the better QB.

They threw everything at Cam, but the kitchen sink, during the draft but the Panthers didn't shy away from him and picked him and it pissed them off because once again, he prevailed. They then decided that it was going to be their job to scrutinize Cam since he went off the draft board at # 1. Interestingly enough, none of the other top QBs picks are being treated in the same manner. Sam Bradford, struggled last year but you heard nothing. It was the team that received the brunt of the blame.

It amazes me when so called Panther fans are upset when some in the media praise Cam for his talent. What kind of twisted mindset is that. You got these folks chasing down Luck based solely on the media's empty hype of this kid. He's proven to be an average player at best but you wouldn't know that if you read these articles and listen to the pundits. Nope...Luck is the "once in a life-time QB." But praising Cam for his actual accomplishments bothers some, even Panther fans.

In all honesty, I wish those who seem to enjoy believing that fixing Cam means fixing the team would seriously listen to those who say, Cam isn't the problem. Because you know what? They are right. When Cam, the QB, is getting more rushing yards than the receivers on this team, he's clearly not the problem.

But it's clear many of you are in denial and simply follow along with every article and every word that comes out of the mouth of these folks in the media who have made it clear from day one, that they would rake your QB over with a fine tooth comb. Something they refuse to do when it come to their chosen QBs. Some who are worst than Cam.

I remember more than a few big plays late in games last year... unfortunately too much time was left on the clock for the defense and/or special teams to give up the games.

A quarterback shows he knows what he is doing in the two minute drill. That is why all the great ones, without exception, have excelled in the 4th quarter. Think about it.

Cam Newton does not excel in the two minute offense. In fact, he is terrible. The Panthers are 1-9 in games decided by 7 or fewer points since Newton arrived. The lone win was a nail biter against a horrible Jacksonville team early last year. This team could easily be 3-3, 4-2 or even 5-1 right now. The defense has played well enough to win on most occasions and there is a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Cam Newton has thrown for 300+ yards once in his last 18 starts. he has thrown for 170 or less in 4 of his last 9 starts.

What Jaworski is actually saying is that Newton is a limited player who must be protected, "hidden", behind a strong, traditional running attack. He is not a franchise player, not by a long shot. Will he develop into one? Who knows. I thought he was Superman already...

By the way, barring injury, Andrew Luck, RG III, Brandon Weedon and Ryan Tannehill will all break Cam Newton's rookie passing record from last year. Cam Newton ranks right behind RUSSELL WILSON in NFL passer rating. RUSSELL WILSON. 5 foot 11 inch Rookie Russell Wilson.

The solution for the Panthers is to take the ball out of Newton's hands and to start treating him like the mediocre passer he is.
