The new GM and new coach in 2013 need to sit Cam behind a vet QB

Mentally, Cam Newton is about as weak right now as I've ever seen any quarterback ever. He's in mental shambles. I think the one chance to save his career in Carolina is to sign or trade for a veteran QB in 2013 that Cam can sit behind. I think this would have been best for him all along, get some of these crushingly high expectations off of him for a second and just let the guy regain his composure so he can FINALLY learn proper footwork, FINALLY learn how to pass inside the 10, FINALLY learn how to pick up a key first down or touchdown through the air late in the 4th quarter. Every time he has to go out there and learn on the fly, it's stacking up even more pressure on him when he fails time and time again.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but whatever. Thoughts?

All of you with Cam pics in your forum signatures maybe aren't the most unbiased observers. If you're going to sit here and tell me Cam Newton is a good starter in this league right now, you are flat out mistaken. If you have a quarterback playing well, you absolutely aren't 1-6 in the league of 2012 no matter how bad the rest of your team is.

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
