  1. 1. Did you know that Norman's INT return was for naught?

I didn't. I had never seen this happen before and always wanted to, just for the sheer hilarity of it. So I thought I had seen us get the lead right back after losing it moments prior, only to have someone next to me tell me that the play was dead the moment Norman picked it off. I never knew this... especially because you always hear that when TDs are scored with no time on the clock at the end of a close game, by rule the extra point must be attempted. I always thought it was because something like this could happen and give the trailing team a miracle chance to win the game. You learn something new every day, apparently.

I thought for some reason that we would get the 2 points.

Regardless that play pumped us up and but we just couldn't keep the momentum.

I voted "yes" because the game announcers said so immediately when it happened, and then non stopped the entire time Norman was running. Otherwise I didnt. If anything they should award the opposing team 2 pts themselves on a play like that if they dont want to count it as a TD.

For those who didn't know, I hope the barrage of whistles you heard before Norman even made it to the 30 yard line were a good clue the play was dead.

The reason I knew is because about 10 years ago, App State won a game over Furman due this exact scenario. Under a minute left and Furman went for two with a one point lead to ensure that a FG would only tie the game. ASU intercepted the pass and took it 100 yards for two points and the lead (and eventual win).

The nicknamed it miracle on the mountain:

It is a college rule.

I would think all the whistles would have given him a clue.

Hard to understand how you can be a professional, and not know the rules. Although it was fun watching him give it his all. He wasn't going to be denied. Great effort.

Also, someone needed to knock the poo outta Cutler. That idiot was still trying to make a tackle. Freebie hit on a derp of a QB.

    • I think we have some revisionist around it here because of all the drama around Tepper's involvement. If you pull up any scouting report from the time you'll see the same take. WalterFootball's report sums up the media's thoughts on him well: "Young has everything the NFL is looking for in a quarterback except in terms of weight and height." He was the consensus top QB of his draft and the only real question mark they had about him was whether his body could hold up in the NFL. The infamous Steph Curry comparison the Panthers latched onto came from Albert Breer. The excuses I've heard for him are more anecdotal. Bryce Young's development is the only bullet point most NFL fans have on the Panthers right now. That and the coaching turnover. If you're not actually watching our games it's easy to believe this is just a dysfunctional organization that doesn't know how to unleash this talented Heisman winner.  I've seen media and fans alike run with that narrative way more than criticizing Young outright. Whenever we win there's flocks who use it as proof that the Panthers just need to be patient.
    • So maybe 1-3 vs playoff teams, going by standings as of today. I guess that is an improvement.  We are just about improved enough to be in purgatory draft wise. It really isn’t so bad in the 1st unless you really want that top QB or maybe edge guy because there are usually plenty of good players at the top but it hurts you some as get deeper in the draft.
