Dearest Ron Rivera,

Dear Ron,

If I were to circle one game the rest of the season that would piss off Big Cat more than any other to lose, it would be this week at home against John Fox.

Considering the strained relationship between these two during Fox's final year here, I think it is safe to say this is a must win game for you personally.

If you win, you just might buy yourself another year with more improvement this season.

If you lose, don't unpack anything else. Its a waste of energy.

Love,

Zod

Dear God. If Denver beats us or even worse blows us up big time, Rivera may be fired that night.

Lots of Panther fans are going to be in reality check mode a week from today.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the win yesterday but we beat a bad team and we have a legitimate SB contender and Peyton Manning rolling in here next week. Oh, and I almost forgot, a former coach who probably wants to score as many points as possible out of spite.

I don't think that you can assume that anyone would blow us out. After all the two supposed hottest teams in the NFL right now, the Falcons and Bears both escaped with a gift game handed to them at the end. Otherwise we pretty much controlled them throughout and beat both of them for 58 minutes. We can play close with anyone this year. Whether we can pull it out in the end is another matter.

We've already taken two "SB contenders" down to the wire this season. I'd say we're more than capable of beating Denver.

EDIT: looks like panthers55 beat me to it.

    • Man I was hoping if Evero leaves that Ulbrich would be the Panthers DC hire.  He turned the Falcons defensive pass rush into one of the leagues best.
    • To everyone saying he won't take a DC job and only will be taking a HC job this year, I'm not entirely sure about that. To begin with, in today's NFL, most teams prefer to hire an offensive background coach over defensive. Adding to that, there have been 3 hires so far this year, with 2 of them being defensive guys.  And since there are only going to be so many teams looking to hire a defensive minded HC each year, it decreases his odds.  Also, Saleh was always a hot name in this cycle and teams are probably more familiar with him as they've been looking into him for a while already. Then you look at the openings left... I can't see him wanting to go to the Raiders or Browns.  The Cardinals just fired a defensive coach, can't see them hiring another right after.   That just leaves the Ravens and Steelers.  He's probably too old for the Steelers to have any interest in him and I've got to think the Ravens are going to be looking for an innovative offensive mind type of HC to maximize Lamar's prime window. Sure, he might just sit the season out and try for a HC job next offseason, but I just don't see any fits that make sense for him right now.
    • Falcons continue making good moves. One of the reasons they hired a coach so quickly was because locking up Ulbrich was a priority. The Falcons agreed to terms with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich on a new three-year deal, per sources. Kevin Stefanski’s first key staff addition come in-house in Atlanta, where Ulbrich’s D set a franchise record with 57 sacks in 2025.
