Wow- Major props to Smitty

No, both of you are absolutely wrong.

Smith openy said he isn't going anywhere, he said he's retiring a panther, he said that we are stuck with him. If JR really didn't want Smith here for some reason, smith would just retire.

That fact that some of you 'fans' don't know this by now is sickening. And the fact you want him traded makes me even sicker.

Learn the facts before you say stuff, I can not stand dumb fans anymore.

Listen to your self. Denial is the key word that pops to mind when I read this.

Denial when Steve smith said himself he would retire in Carolina?

Do you want our greatest player ever to be traded for chump change after all he's done for us?

Go get that tat removed.

After this season when Randy Moss and Tony G. retire. Steve Smith will be second in the league for receiving yards...only behind Reggie Wayne.

Quite a feat with subpar QB's IMO.

Him and Wayne came the same year- I am truly convinced that if our boy Smitty would have 15k by now if he had a Manning or Brady.

He's my favorite player, I don't think he will anymore, but I want him to get a ring even if with another team (not NFCs).

The sad part is, #'s 8, 9, 19 and 20 will be the reasons that Smitty will not make the HOF without at least 1 ring.

How many times have we heard a player from every sport say that he wants to retire in a certain destination. Approximate 8/10 players that say that end up playing somewhere else. I'm sorry if I don't want to sit idly by while this "receiving group" we have deteriorates any further. I like to be real with myself and my feelings. This in no way shows that I have no support for the club. In fact it shows the opposite.

Show me one recent example of a player that said thy were in their last couple years so if they were to be traded they would just retire, and then didn't stick by that word.

Smith decided a while ago that him and his family are committed to living in Charlotte, they found a high school for their kid, they aren't going anywhere.

Once again, remove you tattoo if you think smith is going anywhere.

I wasn't talking about our team. It happens in all sports players make statements that mean fug all. Plus using the same comeback twice shows your inferiority.

So you can't name one player? That's what I thought.

Smith isn't going anywhere and any real panther fan would know that.

Nice new username, now go get rid of your tattoo.

Smith still has a lot left, especially if the Panthers can every get a new #1 and be able to move Smith to the slot. He could easily turn into the Ricky Proehl role and play many more years. The question is if this Panther can get competitive again and he wants to stay around.

The Smitty man love blinds a lot of fans.....

Bottom line is Smitty says a lot but people put too much stock in "franchise" loyalty. It doesn't exist to the degree is pitched often.

Smitty wants to keep his family in Charlotte. So did Moose and so do tons of players who leave their families in cities and go play elsewhere....

If Smitty wants to play as long as his body would allow.....odds of him finishing as a Panther are simply slim. That is just reality. If he retires a Panther, he retires when he still could play IMO

Call me crazy but I think JR will trade Smitty to a championship contender next year just out of respect for what he did for the franchise.

That kind of thing doesn't really happen much in the real world. I can't think of an example myself off the top of my head.

Trades are made for the benefit of teams, not players.

Tony Gonzalez. KC rebuilding, traded him and said thanks.

But plenty of aging players have been parted with in rebuilds and youth movements and when teams move into new eras. All a matter of perception, you could choose to look at it that LC wasn't trying to do him a favor and was just trying to move into a new era of KC football.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
    • I don’t watch college football anymore (used to be Stanford STH but meh), but my wife is Hawaiian and her favorite color is purple, so I guess I knew Tet was my new favorite player to root for when he came out in a purple suit and lei and threw up the Shaka.
    • AJ Green is who I think of as well; the body control, fluidity of movement, hands catcher, always high pointing the ball with the occasional insane/acrobatic type of grab, etc
