Sherrod Martin

I would just like to point out that according to early reports, Sherrod Martin was benched in favor of Nakwho becuase of tackleing issues.

Martin lead the team in solo tackles Pass defenses and was tied with Luke for tackles. But hey the coaching staff cant be wrong can they?

Now was it that the secondary is better with martin or is it the the Eagles passing game sucks or a combo of both. But I have said it all damn year bench Nakwho and play Martin. Hes better in coverage and I have seen no issues with tackleing this season.

What does my fellow huddlers say?

One of many questionable personnel calls in my opinion. It was obvious after ATL that Martin should be the starter.

Also think Adams needs to cover KR and PR. Time to move on from early mistakes.

Also think Gettis should be on the field. Biggest, fastest WR that's not activated because of something personal with the coaching staff. As much as guys disliked Terrell Owens, he started every week. Ego can kill you some times. Or at least get you fired.

The only glaring mistake I saw from him was on the long TD run where he took a bad angle, but other than that I thought he was very solid.

what I kept hearing from RR concerning martin was-

he wasn't hitting his landmarks (out of position) and he was taking bad angles.

to the folks that want him in the game more........

until that changes in practice, he won't get much PT baby.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
