Still dont get the Hurney firing..

Awesomeness!!

everette brown trade was terrible. huge bust and we traded a first rounder for him in 2009. that move, by the way, was a double down by hurney as he had traded a first the previous year for otah, another pick that finally and ultimately proved to be a bust this offseason.

only citing armanti and rivera is actually letting the guy off quite easy. to his credit, i don't fault him for the peppers thing either as that was a shitstorm largely induced by julius and his agent. i also don't hold the delhomme extension against him necessarily as that was a salary cap move.

What about all this money tied up in under utilized talent? Don't forget the huge Delhomme extension after a sub- par year. Yes we were 12-4,but we won those 12 despite Delhomme in most cases. This isn't even mentioning the playoff debacle that preceded teh signing either. I loved Delhomme but he was far from great in 2008 and we could have signed/ extended him for far less than what we did. We never REALLY established a #2 receiver outside of Muhammed.

Also I like Lafell he has shown flashed but he is not STUD status yet. He completely disappears in some games but recently he's looked much better and I hope he is the #2 we've been looking for. I've will not complain about his drafting, but some of his investments haven't turned out so well

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
