He did it in College too, but at the end of the day they brought it on themselves by doubting him so much. Cam did nothing, never gave them the attention and still hasnt.

Agreed.

But the thing is, a lot of sports journalist decided to take the lazy route a long time ago.

10 steps to making money in journalism.

1. Don't be afraid to take people out of context, nobody reads retractions.

2. If you don't have any leads, insist you have "sources". You don't have to give retractions if you have "sources".

3. If at all possible, bash the popular guy.

4. If popular guy cannot be bashed, take contrary position.

5. Beat people over the head with your hits, ignore your misses.

6. Imply that everyone else

7. Watch highlights & listen to clips only, because that's what most people see. Find any controversy you can in those.

8. If you are shown to be wrong, ignore it as much as possible until a) you have something that shows you're right or b ) enough time has passed that you can 180 your stance without admitting you were wrong.

9. Don't be afraid to take on rebuttals from your audience. You have the stage. They can be cut off at any time. If they truly catch you out, laugh it off, point you your press credentials as if that means you are more knowledgeable.

10. Pissing people off makes more people listen. That means more attention for you. That means more money.

If we'd just held on to a few of these losses that should have been wins. Thats what it all comes down to... Cam's stats are good... it just comes downt to W's and L's and the media feasts on you if your team isnt winning.

Its ok bc the people inside the game, the talent execs, the scouts; they know how damn scary adn dangerous that Cam Newton is. Thats all that really matters.

You do realize one of the biggest reasons Cam misses on throws is because he doesn't get the chance to set his feet in the pocket. Also, passes get knocked down, it's part of the game....

...i expect more out of him because the expectation is there... we have a whole lot of problem but the guy touching the ball every play, and i dont mean the center, is driving the train..... just make the plays....

Tom fuging Brady wouldn't be able to make plays behind our shitty offensive line. How is it realistic to expect a second year QB who only played one year of Division one college ball to do it?

    • Also, you don't really get good value by drafting a center in the first.
    • First off, we haven't been ignoring the defense. We have drafted several defensive players, but, perhaps more importantly, we have added good pieces in free agency. Secondly, the offense was still kinda bad (27th or so depending where you look at). You can't just say we can't pick an offensive guy while acknowledging that the offense wasn't good. Everything is on the table. Like I said above, it seems kind of counterproductive to say that we shouldn't draft an offensive player high unless they're at certain positions. The offense was mediocre at best. Sure, we had an uncanny knack to win some close games at opportune times, but the offense wasn't really good. To me, it makes little sense to put limitations on who/what we should draft when we need an upgrade at so many positions. What you look at is trying to get the best value--bang for your buck so to speak--and that's the way it should be. D-Mo has used FA to set up the draft in order not to be pigeonholed into anything, and that's the way that it should be.
    • Hubert has plenty of money. I don't hate the guy. I think he a legit good guy. This is Ron Rivera all over again for me. It's just very obvious a coaching change is needed and it audka we gottaboart ways with a good guy and I'd much rather it work out but the same issues appearing again and again year after year are clearly shouting what needs to happen. With that said, if we hire Todd Golden, that's it. I'm out. I'd greatly prefer to just keep getting disappointed by Hubert. I can at least stand to root for that.
