still waiting on Cam to beat a good team...blame whoever you want but he's had chances to close out games and has failed much more than he's succeeded...i'm ready to start seeing him take over at the end of games and not shrink

i know, kill the hater

Panthers = The NFC version of the SD Chargers!

Better than average QB. Some big name talent. Questionable coaching staff. Aren't around at the end for the Win!

I would leave off the completion pct in that debate, that's pretty low. I wouldn't have expected it to be that low....

Understandable. But middle of the pack league-wide is around 62%. If he can get near that mark while still protecting the ball like he has been, I'll be very happy. No, he doesn't have the % of RG3, who is killing it, but I'll still be happy. Plus, Cam is leading the league in YPA, so having a somewhat lower % is to be expected.

Being the checkdown prince helps

That's Mike Shanahan's offense. He ran it with Elway. He ran it with Cutler. Now he's running it with Bob while Gary Kubiak runs the same offense in Houston.

An passer who is accurate on short throws and no-name running backs are the staples of their offense.

dont forget that zone-blocking run scheme that cut-back runners froth at the mouth thinking about running behind.

My god think of deangelo running in one of those schemes.

Shoot, Eli Manning has a completion percentage right around Cam's(58% for his career), and many consider him to be elite. I'm good with Cam being in that 58-60% completion range. His % is low due to the downfield shots he takes, and with that we get a huge chunk of yardage(He's leading the league in YPA). Plus, Cam gets a ton of yards on the ground. He'll get that completion % up, but right now he's good.

The issue still lies in the fact that we just can't seem to win close games.

Neither the defense nor the offense seem to be able to stand up and make a play when we really need it.

The defense was weak yesterday. But, the offense did have the ball twice in the final 8 minutes needing a TD to win....and could not close the deal. Now, the play calling sucked as usual....but you still gotta make plays when the game is on the line.

Until this offense can demonstrate the ability to do that, Cam will continue to be questioned by the media....unfairly a lot of times, but it will continue to happen.

With how both the offense and defense folds in the second half, I'm sold it's the way Rivera coaches. He coaches with no sense of urgency - as bad as Singletary was, at least he had fight in him. I think it's rubbed off on the players (not all, of course, but some). At some point you've got to realize when to step up.

As for Newton, his accuracy has still been inconsistent but overall, he's been a much, much better quarterback over the last couple of weeks. He was making some sickening good passes in the first half yesterday.
