So now we can look forward to fewer of the "chip kelly is so wonderful threads",and "Rivera needs to go" to be replaced with, "Panthers accept mediocrity", "we are going to suck", "lets trade Cam so he can play on a good team" threads...............

Oh Joy..........................

just as bad as "hey! morale victory" "so what if we're not in the playoffs, that team didn't quit on their coach in december" "well, at least we stayed competitive" or "we'll get them next year!"

Again, I don't want to hear "According to sources..." I want to hear Richardson or Rivera say it before I will believe it. Up to this point, not one single person in the media actually has contributed anything accurate so why should I believe Voth?

My thoughts exactly.

And those poeple have good reason. Two years in fact, of evidence for Rivera, serveral more for Panthers FO. While those who say otherwise are just hoping...facts are facts.

It's not just Rivera, I'd be unhappy with any coach who loses, personally.

You want all that to go away, the Panthers have to change all this, you can't stop bitching when there is something that needs bitching about.

we've had winning seasons in 4 of 17 years. not sure this team knows what it's doing. until we can actually win...i was going to say back to back winning seasons, but at this point i'd just be happy with a 5th winning season, but anyway...until we can actually win, i can't understand why anyone would be happy, pleased, or content with the status quo, esp. when we're seriously thinking of promoting from within a failed organization.

I am ok with this. I think Ron has the potential to learn from his mistakes and become a great coach. He just needs to bring in an assistant head coach to take a little off his plate and work on his game management. Maybe hire someone to sit in the booth and scrutinize things like when to challenge a play. I was dreading losing Rivera because I do believe he's a brilliant football mind. He's just been a disaster in game management.

Terrible decision. I hate it even more because the decision was made with no GM in place. Hey Richardson, have you not figured out by now that you don't know how to build a winning team? Maybe you should let someone that actually knows WTF they are doing make these critical decisions, huh?

I think this really hurts us in the GM search as well. What GM worth a damn is really going to want to come to a situation where he has Ron fuggin Rivera forced on him? We already have a brutal cap situation and play in a tough division, this is just one more strike against us. At least we have Cam otherwise these GM candidates probably wouldn't even return our calls.

Thanks for adding more ideas for threads we will see now that Rivera is returning. Nothing I like better than months of bitching about the team in the offseason most of the time about issues that may or may not turn out to be an issue. Like how the defense was going to suck and how the DT position was our biggest weakness. Or the Beason is going to be 100% and a beast this year threads.

But it gives the half empty guys something to worry about in the off season and fills up the message board. I am sure Zod appreciates it.

And if he did, I'd hope Accorsi would put you guys on blast if he thought that were the case.

It's been said many a time that Jerry Richardson has a load of respect for Ernie Accorsi.

That's one reason why I have a really hard time believing the notion that Jerry would just ignore his recommendations.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
