Maybe Chud doesn't use Williams right.....but that doesn't change the fact we are paying too much at RB.

We paid 2 RBs BIG money....then have Tolbert and Cam is the best rusher on the team. Even if Williams was used right....he shouldn't be on the roster. Too many highly paid RBs...that money should of been invested elsewhere ( his or Stewarts)

If deangelo was used correctly, nobody would be complaining....

And about this salary cap hooplah this poo happens with us every year and we somehow ALWAYS turn out ok, I'm not saying we won't cut or trade a few vets (even d-will or beason, if need be, although I hope not) and that we won't be limited in FA obviously but the overreaction that happens every year about this is ridiculous IMO..

Yes, but you are forgetting one small, minor detail. We usually have a general manager to work these things out. We haven't had one since October.

While we're talking about the cap, everyone needs to keep in mind that we have to be in compliance with the cap in March. So when we talk about June 1st cuts or trades, keep in mind they won't do us any good in the short term. We are going to have to get under the cap long before June 1st.

You can cut a player prior to June 1st and still designate them a June 1st cut. See Travelle Wharton last year.

Ive been pulling for Williams all season and my twitter account proves that. So you would rather pay out close 5 mill a year for nothing instead of keeping him for 5 mill a year? If you say yeah then you are a troll, if you think Stewart can carry the.team then you wish death upon our constant play off hopes.

The Panthers appear to be a in a situation where saving 5mil may be much more important than keeping a luxury like DWill while they already have a great back in Stewart and a very capable backup in Tolbert..

Now while it may not be quite that bad, it's pretty clear that our cap situation for the next few years could rightly be described as "complicated".

I'm hoping if the Panthers hire Dave Gettleman or Marc Ross (the best candidates, in my opinion) that they also somehow manage to bring Kevin Abrams with them to be our cap guy. Failing that, secure someone else with experience at working the cap (Mike Tannenbaum had a good rep for that before the Sanchez deal).

I don't see this season as an exception.

If you define OK as picking up scrap players and plugging them into starting roles, only to watch them contribute to a 2-8 start and then win a couple meaningless games at the end of the season; then sure.

yea good luck with Stewart being a premiere ba k, when given the chance this year he couldn't hold up. With all of the injuries he's had, his body has taken more of a beating than Williams who is battle tested.

Actually getting rid of Williams will cost you 10 million not five. And if you designate it a June 1 cut, you have 5 mil in 2013 and another 5 million of dead cap space in 2014 when the cap is supposed to be flat again. Just the money alone make it difficult to cut Williams or Steward next year.

but all moves aren't made with just 2013 in mind...

new GM has to look at 2014 and beyond. I think most big moves made won't be about 2013...but more with 2014 in mind. We need to get rid of the investment at RB....big pictuire of the next couple seasons it makes sense.

Cam Newton, plus Tolbert, plus random RB...= better rushing attack than 90% of the NFL.
