2013 Panther cornerbacks

well Im not much of the re-watching games type dude, but over the past 3 or 4 days I did re-watch most of the second half of the season and this is what I have to say:

-Josh Thomas could very well be the Panthers #1 cb next year and I believe he deserves it. This guy is the real deal, but being so new to the team and name recognition hindering his opinion on many, he doesn't get brought up enough...

He will be a standout player for this team next year.

-Captain Munneryln is player any team would want on their side. Not saying he is a starter, but he plays with so much heart and energy it would be tough not bringing him back for the #3.

-Dockery played well, but is a better 4th option moving forward.

-The only question is whether Josh Norman can use this off season to improve leaps and bounds and show he is capable of a #2, (since Gamble is likely gone bc of $), I think he has the mental approach to the game that we want, but it's one of those things that will show itself at training camp.

...I know many of yall want a corner in the first 2 picks of the draft, but my honest opinion is OG/Safety/WR/DT are the wiser options

What do yall think?

You must have watched a different Munnerlyn than I did. I saw him get bitched at by either Rivera or Thomas Davis just about every game for missing an assignment and hes also not far removed from being the league leader in allowing completion percentage...

Good effort isn't enough. We need players now. New direction

In my opinion, Munnerlyn is too much of a risk to continue paying. It seems that almost every game there is some bone headed play that makes me want to get rid of him. In today's game, CBs are a very important part of a defense and we really need to upgrade our secondary, especially if Gamble leaves. Know what will make our DEs go from 10-12 sacks to 15+sacks? A better secondary.

This is basically it. There will be better options than Captain moving forward.

Munnerlyn is a free agent. We cannot afford to sign him, and he will get offers. Gamble probably getting cut too. We are fortunate to have taken Thomas off Dallas' hands. They needed immediate help and he was a project. I agree that Thomas could be solid #2 CB, but we need another. Dockery was not bad--maybe he can play nickel.

Thomas is better than Norman. At least right now. And Rivera and the Def coaching staff thought so too. That's why they benched Norman. Now he will get better hopefully. But it's wrong to leapfrog him over Thomas when Thomas outplayed him on the field. Norman was a 5th rd draft pick not a 2nd, so draft status give him much of an edge here.

I'd rather not see more of Norman in a starting role anytime soon, but we can get by with any average DBs, so long as we continue to add talent to our D-line. Norman was really bad on certain plays last season, but he plays with a lot of passion and confidence. Talking trash, screwing up, and then talking more trash. He has a lot to learn. I really don't care that much about the CB position because it's clear that the key is a dominant pass rush. Use young and hungry CBs, and when they ask for money, dump them and bring in a new crop. Spend the money and high draft picks on the D-line.

I just remember seeing Cap'n getting mushed to the ground a couple of times when he was n press coverage. It's true he has some interceptions but we do need a solid and stronger nickel.

He's one of the best nickel corners according to pff, maybe you were watching him when he wasn't in the nickel? Because I remember he was CB2 before Norman got pulled.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
