Madden Curse: Debunked?

Recommended Posts

Now that the cover man, Calvin Johnson, and the intro man, Ray Lewis, broke Jerry Rice's receiving yards record and won the Superbowl (respectively), is that Madden curse finally debunked?

I mean, it was weird that players would underperform or get injured fairly often after being on the cover, but a curse? I dunno man.

Get Cam on the '15 cover year, just like he wanted last year (because I'm 90% sure AP or Peyton will get it for the '14 game).

CJ avoided the Madden Curse, but it laid waste to his WR teammates! Seriously, Burleson broke his leg, Titus Young went crazy, and Ryan Boryles tore his ACL.

I hope the cover was worth it Megatron!

Also went from a Super Bowl contender to not making playoffs

Madden Curse I'm really concerned about is me Buying the game.

Years I bought Madden are:

2001 1-15 year

2004 - Smith breaks his leg in the opener and Davis goes down

2007 - Jake's Elbow gets destroyed after starting out the season 8td's and 1 int in the first 2 1/2 games

and I played a demo that I downloaded to my xbox in 2010

so Yeah you dont want me playing it

The entire premise of the madden curse was that if you failed to approach the ridiculously productive performance you had the season prior or somehow got unlucky and injured (it's football lol) then it was because EA jinxed you by having you on the cover of a glitchy crap game.

"What? Shaun Alexander banged up his knee? I knew it, it's only because of this stupid madden cover he didn't score another 28 TDs this year"

If you believed in the madden curse at some point then you're retarded and eat wall paste

Hypothetically if DeAngelo got awarded the cover of Madden after his 2008 performance and everything ended up playing out the way it did, people would be saying that damn madden curse got him, and at this point since he hasn't reached 1000 yards in a season since then people would further go on to say it ruined his career

    • like duh.  no team drafts for depth in the 1st round   Joe Person "Water is wet"
    • The more I research this draft, the more I think this: All of the tackles are developmental. I think, if you have a proven veteran at LT and a solid player (with a knee at 32?) at RT, you go ahead and draft players who might be a year away. They can serve as depth while working for a shot to start. In my opinion, based on the sites I rely on for draft info--there are players who could fall to day 3 who have issues to work out but have demonstrated success on the college level.  Here are the OTs I am watching: Jude Bowery, BC. Aamil Wagner, ND Isiah World, Ore D. Crownover, TexAM Isaiah Jatta, BYU (I really like the first two)
