Possible FA move no one is talking about

Last season Chud got us off on the wrong foot....heavy 3 WR sets was a poor solution to the departure of Shockey. I don't think Shula will be about such...

I personally think Cam is at his best with 2 TE sets.

New GM may not have the wiggle room to add a high profile WR (touchdown scorer) but he could go after a TE in a deep FA TE class.

Even though the cap probably wouldnt allow it, I would like to see Dulaney Walker signed to replace Barnidge while also letting Hartsock go... Tolbert can play the same H-Back role as him (lining up as a Wing or Fullback), as can Walker... on top of Walker being able versitale on Offense, he also is a big contributor on special teams which we definitely need... would be worth the money to have a player like that on the roster plus it opens other spots on the roster for depth at other positions... I brought this up as well. People seem to not think the TE position needs to be addressed.

It's a good point of discussion. I would love to bring in a legit #2 TE like Walker. If we did, I could see us putting off getting another WR for a year.

Keller, Pitta, Cook, Bennett....

heck, even a Ben Watson IMO would be an upgrade over Barney. He possibly could be had for very cheap. Local kid....but I am bias as I think he also had one of the greatest plays in NFL playoff history.

u talking bout knocking the fug out of champ bailey on that long int return lol

Heck yeah, that was awesome. The greatest part was Champ on the sideline asking who hit him.....and he was told a TE went 100 yards to ring his bell

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
