For the first time since a week before the draft, Walterfootball has us getting a position other than DT.

Bout damn time, I posted a thread 2 months ago saying we need safety, we lost game due to retarded safety play that would have had us in the playoffs everything else staying the same. Then in the playoffs 3 teams lost due to shitty safety play. People don't understand that to fight the deep ball and tight-ends you need elite safety play. Ravens...Head 'splosion.

I just don't think DT's are that efficient anymore. We dominated the Saint's twice this year, Sean Payton or not we rocked them on their upswing at the end of the season at their house, with shitty DT play. I just think a safety would be much more viable, or the top WR in the draft to extend our leads but if it comes down to the last possession in the game I'd rather have us have a long ball stopping safety rather than a marginal upgrade over Brandon Lafell, its not like Lafell sucks.

I've watched just about all the Vaccaro videos on youtube. I don't get why he's such a great prospect. Sure he looks like the best out of a weak class of Safeties (in my opinion), but all I really got out of those videos is that he's a really good tackler. Admittedly the videos I watched weren't very good for showing his coverage skills and all. They showed an interception and a few tipped passes, but not much in that department. Vaccaro is my Kuechly this year. Not the pick or the position I want in the 1st, but if that's the direction they go I'll trust them.

what kind of logic is this. we beat the saints (who were awful this year), so therefore DTs dont matter in todays NFL. what a leap.

What? We lost, actual evidence, purely lost 4 to 5 games this season that would have had us in the playoffs on just poor safety play alone. You can argue grinding it out in the trenches all you want, but at the end of the day its about who has the last possession and it cost us games @ Atl, vs TB, vs Dal, vs, @ Chi.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
