Who the Panther are looking to draft

These are not players we have shown interest in. These are simply some of the players who are projected to go in the top 10, who if they drop to 14 would be considered BPA at their respective positions. Truth is we likely won't have a huge choice if any and maybe only 1 of these guys would even be available so making a list of all five as if they all would be available is stupid even for the off-season. If all five were available then we would still have to see who we picked up in free agency and who we dumped before you could make a semi-intelligent choice.

not exactlly Star and Bjron are the only constant top 10's in the group, Bjorn wont be a need if we plan on keeping Hardy though, and Star would only fall to us if someone gets scared about his possible heart condition, but outside of those two the rest as far as I can tell are projected 10-20 so that's our area.

You must be looking at something different that I am.

Here is a draft which was updated today which shows Warmack at 2, Werner at 5, and Patterson at 10. At our pick we are supposed to take Rhodes at 14. Star is projected at 15 and Vaccaro is 18. So using the BPA philosophy assuming our board looks like theirs, you would pick Warmack first, Werner 2nd, Patterson 3rd. You wouldn't pick Star or Vaccaro because they aren't BPAs.

Here is another from Gil Brandt who is a smart guy. This one has Werner at 2, Warmack at 10, Vacarro at 15, Patterson at 16, and Star is not even in the first round.

In this case it would be Werner hands down with Warmack second. Everyone else wouldn't necessary be BPA and picked by us at all even if available,

And the problem is that all these drafts and your opinion is based on need not BPA. Why doesn't anyone understand what BPA means. BPA is best player available regardless of need...............

if by new name to emerge you mean that you are throwing his name out there as a player you want o see us pick up? I could care less, focus should be put solely on players we have shown interest in and not wishful thinking.

upon further review yeah, so you want us to spend the 15 pick on someone projected to go into the second, he's considered a late first at best because of his speed, also defensive player from the pac 12? "rolls eyes" would almost rather get a 2nd string player from LSU that barely made the team

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about so I won't even waste my time. Ill remember to quote your old uneducated ass when Trufant goes top 15.

This statement is beyond moronic...

    • Me and you clearly have different definitions of production. If you remove the 2023 season where Thielen had just over 1k yards he is 43rd on our all time receivers list just ahead of Jonathan Mingo. And before you ask why would we remove that season? Well a couple reasons. For one thing we won a whopping 2 games. And for the biggest. Thielen was 14th in targets in 2023. We absolutely force fed him the ball all season and finished with the 32nd passing offense. For comparison sake 33 year old Jerricho Cotchery eclipsed over 1k total yards in just 2 more games and with 67 less targets than Thielen did in that 2023 season. He has above average hands. That's it. We overpaid him because we were desperate and overvalued him. That's the reality no matter how many times you or anyone else wants to quote me and get defensive about it.
    • He's played great and it was a win-win (rare free agent) for both parties.  One of the points is he hasn't made enough difference to "waste" 35 million on. Another point is by the time Panthers are hitting their prime, he would have taken snaps away from young WRs/TEs/RBs. "Thus" in the long term, hurting the teams new future "window."  But I dare think of the monkey poo of a offense the Panthers had without him the past 2 years. Lack of talent leads to many problems, including paying a 35 year old to be somewhat respectable. Hes one of few that cared enough and made a effort. Plus you know he's done great stuff in many other ways for the team, community juggernaut, leadership, etc.  Judgement is for AT and his 3 year panther career!!
    • But it has gotten a little wacky. RBs-https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/_/position/rb     A couple months ago iggles made Bark the highest guaranteed RB, jeanty was until then. That's what matters the guarantee. A rookie never played a down was the leader, until iggles howie made things right.  If a safety gets drafted in the top 8 or so, he would have the highest money too or very close to it.    Add in TEs and C too.    Even with the fixed %, the numbers are getting too much for a player that's not proven themselves.     Plus anytime a QB is drafted it screws up the contracts for players around and if next year a punter gets drafted at the same 90th spot, they want the same contract with the 5.7% increase. Teams would be laughing.    Its just reached this point. Another 10 years and I bet the vets will be crying.
