and if you guys wanna go by PFF's ratings then we must sign Antoine Winfield immediately. He had the highest grade of any corner last year +25.5

Winfield has been a very good CB for a while, he's just old. If it weren't for being 35 I'd be all for it.

He's not on par with Gamble. If he was that would be an amazing move cap wise.

Cheap veteran that will contribute, I'm not sure what the problem is.

We're not in the gettleman era yet

We will still be in the Hurney apocalypse for another season or two due to him going full retard in the draft and with the huge guaranteed contracts

How many times do you think Gettleman really said WTF when he got into the specifics of the numbers?

If it is a non-guaranteed, low signing bonus move....it's basically a risk free signing. Playing with house money. For potential depth, not finding a really bad side to this. It's not like anyone in the building on Mint St. thinks this guy is in any way capable of being a competent replacement for Gamble. They may make some lip service to that fact and laud them as the greatest things since sliced bread because that's what FO guys usually do after a signing, but everyone knows it's a red herring.

But feel free to continue freaking out like my 8 year old.

What a rocky start to the Gettleman era.

It isn't his fault. Hurney left us in a terrible position. Gettleman has to do a lot of responsible cleaning up before we can do anything that will excite the fans. At least he is being smart even though it sucks we can't go after any big names. We were in the worst cap shape of any team in the NFL and by 2014 we are going to have a lot of free money to spend. That's the goal and he is on the way to getting us there. 2013 may suck though, but hey maybe we'll get Clowney.

      Rico is 0%. I think we would really like to have Mays back but we have a value in mind and aren't willing to overspend. I think someone probably will so I think the odds are pretty low but not zero.

      Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.

      13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion.
