Jamarcus Russell comeback vid has me rooting for him. NFL teams showing interest.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1590187-jamarcus-russell-comeback-2013-jamarcus-hits-the-gym He is down to 280 lbs from 315 lbs in Feb with a target weight of 265 lbs. I have to admit im pulling for the guy, according to NFL.com he is already drawing interest from a few teams. Dont get me wrong, a lot of his failing is his own fault but lets not forget, he was drafted by the Raiders, where young promising QBs go to die.

I know this isnt Panther related, but its been very slow news day today and came across this and thought I would post. What do you guys think? Anyone else rooting for this guy or am I just crazy? His only crime was being lazy and immature, other NFL players have done way worse and bounced back.

I find myself rooting for him to make a comeback as well. Are they still televising his comeback training? I caught like the 1st two, and he looked horribly inaccurate with a ton of his throws. Also, I would like to see him get down in the 245-255 range weight wise. He looked big as a house and awkward when I saw him the 1st few episodes.

I bet my cat he doesn't get signed.

Im not so sure about that. He has perfect timing considering this is one of the worst QB draft classes in awhile, a lot of teams are desperate for a QB and there is just such limited supply of them now. Name a FA QB now that has the potential and arm of a 255 lb motivated Jamarcus Russell with something to prove. Ryan Fitzpatrick? John Skelton? I cant think of any.

Also, what risk would a team have bringing him to training camp and see what he has. Guy has a cannon of a arm. Dont be suprised to see a team like the Jets show interest. Wouldnt be suprised if Chud would show interest in Cleveland either

I would move to have Russell as Cam's backup. The dude has legit potential and a huge arm. He was a beast at LSU. He didn't fail himself. Oakland failed him. No one is going to succeed in Oak. Look at how many great college players that went into Oakland and failed. A lot, and Floyd may just be one of them 3 weeks from now.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
