Your thoughts on Star in the 1st and Keenan Allen in the 2nd?

In a 4-3?

Floyd > Richardson > Williams > Star

In a 3-4 on the other hand, Star will be pretty good.

He does not have good pass rush technique and uses pure skill to get to the qb, and in a 4-3, you need technique, otherwise lineman will trap you and make you an insufficient rusher or clogger on the line. He is not someone who will have an immediate impact, period. In two years? Yeah he might be the best DT in the class, but I doubt it over Floyd and Richardson. He does not even use any pass rush moves, I mean jeeze dude, put on the tape. Raw skill and a player that will give you a couple of plays a game does not make him a sure fire top 10, especially not in a 4-3 lineup.

In our scheme he would be our 1 tech DT(though he could play the 3 tech as well). His main job would be stopping the run. He would take on double teams and is the main guy to battle the point of attack on the run.

He has shown to have have the raw strength and power to take on double teams and the motor to maintain it. He can also not only get into the backfield but also pursuit. To me he's clearly the best run defender in this draft.

On his pass rush, I agree that he has depended on his raw talent a bit too much. However he has dominated opposing O-Lines. The guy was constantly double teamed and sometimes triple teamed and still got pressure on the QB. If he wasn't double teamed then it was good night. He does have to develop his technique to be a better pass rusher in the NFL but he has good work ethic and attitude from what I've read and he has all the physical tools to do so.

To me Star is the safest DT in the draft and if it was not for the heart problem popping up, he would' go top 3 IMO.

Kind of like asking why Justin Smith, Haloti Ngata, Kyle Williams, and Chris Canty have a low sack count.

You just named NT's....Floyd is an UT.

NT.....run stuffer, demand double teams, hold point of attack

UT....pressure the QB and get sacks

Floyd is an UT without the sacks....he is inconsistent.

Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Ill have to say that from that clip, Floyd looked like a top 5 pick. I didnt see him getting pushed back as much as what I have heard others keep saying. But, Floyd and Star brings different ability to the table and are very different player. Floyd does have a much better motor than Star. Still, Star is not "overrated".

He is if you think he's a Top 10 pick any other year.

    • This while he didn't single handily LOSE the game on any one play.....    He was a first overall pick, one we paid a fortune for..... the bar for him is a 10 foot dunk not a 5"8 children's rim.   32 for 49 for 287 with 1 td and 1 int in two games vs the worst team in the conference, two critically important games that we would be 9-5 and competing for the #2 if he had led us to victory....   Ive given him props for the TD to tet.... it was the best pass ive ever seen him make.....   But putting up these kind of numbers isn't up to par. Defenses stack the box and dare him to throw....  and he still puts up medicore at best numbers.    To win with Bryce young the entire rest of the team has to be absolutely perfect to make up for his deficiencies.... so while he didn't "lose" this game for us..... HE DEFFINATLY DIDNT GO WIN IT FOR US. (Which is the REALISTIC EXPECTATION)
    • His O is just built on taking repeated shots and that’s not BY’s game.  It was always a round peg and square hole…. But I also agree with your post.  I hate OC HCs.  Especially green ones.   I never liked anything about the setup
    • I get that. He's also trying to do HC and OC this year which I think is just too much for him. I think it's hard to call plays from the sidelines. That view from up top helps them see what a defense is doing better. A few HCs can do it because they have the QBs and experience to pull it off. DC has neither. I think DC may have spread himself too thin and Bryce isn't the QB to be able to pull of his end of it either. How much they compliment each other in creating this offensive bleh, yet to be determined. Doesn't really matter because it's still awful.
