I Feel Sorry for Mike Shula

Good point

Besides all the weapons we had, we went out and spent more on Ginn and Hixon.

Can't get 8 guys on the field, but you guys want more on the sideline. Go figure

Our 3 RB's you are counting as weapons equate to 1 player on the field

Imagine if Steve Smith goes down with an injury?

A happy thought huh? Brandon LaFell is then our #1 receiver...or maybe Hixon.

Let that sink in.

No sane Panther fan is not worried about that. Getts believes in developing talent on our roster instead and giving them a chance.

This is a big year for LaFell. Gettis and Pilares have to prove they can contribute. Adams and Ginn is more for trick plays and STs. Hixon will be pushing LaFell.

Our WR corp is not idea but there's talent there. Need to add Smitty's replacement next year.

Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton, and Sam Bradford. There's a couple, now go for your point.

From the year they were drafted forward, rounds 1-3

Dalton- 2 WRs, 1 TE (including a 1st)

Bradford - 4 WRs, 1 TE (including 1st and 2nd)

Ponder - 1 WR, 1 TE (2nd)

Newton - goose egg

Newton esstentially was part of 2 rebuildings processes now, his draft and this year. Which should slant the odds in his favor of actually being ahead of the curve. You give young QBs, young talent to grow with. What we are doing is rare.. Given Newton nothing but one year scrub rentals since he arrived. That was the point, the path we are taking with him is unique....at what point do we actually begin building around Cam? B/c we aren't.

And when Steve Smith retires....it will be years and years too late. Smitty was Delhomme's guy....he is essentially a carryover from a different era. Instead of being a HUGE bonus we simply rely on him to be enough for this new era.

I agree we didn't do anything for the offense. We do have a lot of offensive weapons but how can we repeatedly keep passing on Darick Rodgers. By the way this is not a rebuilding stage for us we have the talent to compete for a playoffs. We are just a couple of pieces from accomplishing that goal. We needed to fill those pieces in this draft and I feel that we only fixed one of those pieces. This years draft wasn't that great in my opinion.

I still shake my head when they try to have slow ass Lafell go out on a deep route, and the CB is running stride for stride with him. That's where a good number of Cam's INT's come from; trying to get the ball to Lafell, who can't get separation regularly, and has no business going deep. That's our #2 folks, and if Smith gets hurt he's the #1.

Implying Gettlebro is trying to get rid of cam because he didn't pick a receiver could be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I am implying Gettlemen is flat out old school.....and he inherited Rivera and Rivera's new age QB. Rivera was lucky to be back this year.

Acting like Shula and Rivera can get axed and the Cam train who we aren't building around is gonna keep rolling in Carolina doesn't have much support IMO. We don't win this year....we enter rebuilding again. Gettlemen ain't about Newton's style...and changing Newton year 4 simply makes him an inferior version of himself. He is a natural playmaker....we aren't building around offensively

It is a big problem we don't have a WR growing with Newton.

...and we still have a major hole at guard.

A new OC with a bad track record, unsure how similar the offense will be to Chud's, and the WR unit is Smith/LaFell/Hixon/Ginn.

It's a little nerve racking.

Not really true, although you have a point. But most of our packages had two of those on the field at the same time and several times all 3.

Most of of our plays have 2 drinking Gatorade...the overwhelming majority

How many of those aforementioned teams had back to back top ten offenses when they made those picks?

The offense was built for Cam day one with the Olsen deal and guys on the roster. Can you name the number of times those guys have led a top 12 offense? Or even top 15? I can, and it's zero.

There's a difference in starting from something and nothing.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
