What if's and depth picks...

After Having a day or so to calmly look at our draft, I still feel almost the same. I've come to terms with short as a decent pick in the second round and i'm ok with that. He will rotate in and be groomed to take over when Dwan is ready to be let go next season. The first big question came with the selection of Edmund Kugbila. I know there was a big need for help on the offense line, but was the value there with this selection? Could we have gotten him in the 6th? I personally don't believe in drafting D-II offense lineman that early because the transition to high level comp is to rapid. Sure they look good pushing around 260 defensive tackles, but when your suddenly playing the best of the best it looks completely different.

The trials of amini(when cordy glenn was still on the board) show that a dominate prospect in the lower ranks is still only average or below in the in NFL. Not to say both can't become good players,I just don't believe in drafting linemen that play against lower level comp that high. A.J. Klein ,at first i was in a rage. Not at his actual talent but there were still prospects on the board who I feel could have come in and competed for playing time if not start. Which brings me to one of my points on relying on what If's. Gettleman believe's many of the answers to our problems are already on the roster. So by not selecting a wr or offensive weapon he thinks that a healthy gettis or hixon will emerge as a solid number 3. I love gettis as much as the next but, I wouldn't bet a season on this guy returning to form and looking like the gettis of old. I'm still not 100% sold on lafell being the number 2.

We go into the season Betting that Beason and davis will be healthy. Which is why i'm ok with the klein pick at this point. It is highly unlikely both will finish the season healthy. I'd almost be willing to bet money that at some point one of them end's up on the IR. He is also betting that we're ok at corner and saftey, which most people in the NFL and myself question. I'm not nearly as high on Norman as most of the huddle. I don't think ron ron is either. You don't bench a high draft choice and future fixture (just to seek other options)If your sure he's the answer. I don't even know he goes into the season the starter.

Which brings me to Kenjon Barner. This pick was the biggest waste of nothing pick we had the whole draft. I don't hate Barner and actually was a fan of his in college. But, as crowded as our backfield is there isn't much chance to see the field. He isn't as fast as most think(4.52) and maybe the slowest of the 3 backs on the roster. Yes i know he ran a 4.39 at the pro day but, everyone runs faster at the pro day. It isn't official, It's hand timed. Even Teo droped a few tenths at his pro day. The plan seems to be he's insurance for the eventual(next season) loss of D-lo. If your not cutting a player til next year, why draft a subpar replacement this year? He's pretty much going to be red shirted this season(see lattimore who i much rather would have had in waiting) and may see time on special teams behind ginn. By the way, I looooove the star pick. Thank the football gods.

Norman wasn't a high pick, and Barner is potentially electric. Surely he may not see the field that much in his rookie season, but neither did many backs. IMO, we needed a scat back, and now we have one. Small investment, perhaps big rewards.

He's a scat back we took in the SIXTH FRIGGIN ROUND. Those players rarely pan out. If he can make the roster and contribute in ANY way, it's a good pickup for a sixth rounder.

He's not a 4.5 guy, have you seen him play?? He's fast and can find holes. He will have over 300 yards receiving this year, just wait. Bitching about a sixth rounder.....SMH

As far as the OG, I feel he was worth a fourth rounder. Was he an absolute steal at that pick? Prolly not, but time will tell, but name another "hog Mollie" that could come in and start day 1. They saw potential with huge upside and pulled the trigger.

So you'd rather have Lattimore, coming off severe injury to eventually replace Deangelo who is probably more like Stewart than Williams. Barner is fast and is likely faster than Deangelo. He is also a pretty good receiver who is going to return kicks and do some screen work for us. He was a great pick.

Im with you on everything else. But either Gettleman is waiting for cuts or has something up his sleeve and Gettis is ready to make an impact. We worked out all of the top WR's and ignored them all on draft day. Something is up.

If you know one of your guys is going to pretty much redshirt this year like barner is. Why not get one with way more upside. A potential stud. Yes coming off the knee injuries he still has much more upside than barner.

I predict barner has 300 yards receiving this year. He won't be a "redshirt"

    • They said there wasn't clear evidence to warrant the overturn.  How would it have made a difference at that point in the game?   https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-privately-admitted-to-erroneous-reversal-of-catch-by-panthers
    • Me, I'm sick of WWE channel hopping their PLEs and shows. Netflix now with Raw. USA still has Smackdown but you can't get it with Roku if you don't also have cable. Then they went from all the PLEs on Peacock to ESPN+ which required upgrading your Disney+ package. Then they frikkin' move Saturday Night Main Event with John Cena's retirement match back over to frikkin' Peacock, which we'd just cancelled two months prior because no PLEs there anymore. And there are fewer, but longer matches and its the same danged stories again and again. Rematch after rematch after rematch between PLEs. Fewer matches, fewer wrestlers, more promos (of lesser quality) and less action.  It just seems like it's all fillers and re-runs. I'm tired of Cody Rhodes. I'm tired of Jey Uso. I'm tired of the two Brons. Shuffle the deck a bit guys, this game's getting stale.
    • Chuba was 3 yards behind the 3 gap. He was lined up weak offset I. It was a 33 dive. Chuba needed to power through off of Ekwonu's block and slip off into the 5 gap where the Tremble had the lane sealed and Rick pulled the LB out of the 5 gap. Here's a visual if you need proof. Chuba did a jump cut laterally to the 2 gap on the right side with unblocked defenders crashing down and went airborne.   This is a 33 dive that should have been slipped off the block into the 5 gap. Chuba lacked vision, but you can see Rico and Bryce staring at the intended running lane sealed off by Tremble and Ekwonu. He should have read Ekwonu's block. The blocking and misdirection is NOT set up for the right side. The play worked. Chuba failed to execute on this play. Trust who you want to, but I wouldn't suggest you argue with the video. Anyone telling you this was drawn up to go right with the blocking did not analyze it. They are correct it should have been a called dive, and it was a called dive.  This was a weak offset I bringing Tremble in motion from the right to the left.
