Rivera wants to limit star to 30 snaps a game.

Recommended Posts

Dwan looks just as big as Star.

Star said he's comfortable at 310 and that's where he's been listed as the last few months.

You were the one who started to fight over 20 lbs.

Star struggled not bc of his weight but bc how much much Utah played him. Same for Short. Rivera and Gettleman have been saying that for a while now.

cool man. I never said he struggled because of his weight. I said he was a big guy so rest would be good for him. don't twist my words.

So half the snaps sounds good to you? I'd like to see something more like 60-65% personally.

I just keep going back to Gettleman calling him a 3 down player, lets not forget we still play some 4th downs on D.

we're going to be facing a lot of passing situations in our division this year. maybe i'm speaking out of ignorance here but i'd expect to see a lot of edwards/short packages on obvious passing downs, which would automatically clip star's playing time.

"Star is a bigger guy than Dwan, who also hasn't played a full NFL season, who struggled when he was tired"

I'm not twisting your words. You never said he was over played. So I would assume that you believed his weight was the problem.

The rotation will all have to do with down and distance. There are so many different variations. It should also be known KK played a lot of time at NT as well.

3rd n short - Hardy/KK or Dwan/Star/CJ

3rd n long - Alexander/Hardy/KK/CJ

1st n 2nd downs - Hardy/KK or Dwan/Star/CJ

and there still SEVERAL different formations... DAMN!!! this Dline and the rotation could and should be super sick!

3rd and short would have to be Star I would assume.

But you're exactly right.

I guess Rivera may not feel as comfortable with Star on passing downs. Maybe that's why Star will be limited on a couple snaps to start the season.

Not even a little worried about this.

A benefit of drafting two first round talent DTs is that we should now have three solid DTs and we should be good to go regardless of which are on the field vs resting at any given moment.

Besides, this is really freakin early to know for sure how things will actually play out come regular season.

Dude is 320 lbs and played 92% of the snaps last year. He wasn't taking plays off. For comparison Floyd played around 60%-65%.

This is a good thing. We need to keep everyone fresh because we have a lot of talent on the D line now.

Perhaps a little light. But we also have a very deep rotation. I'm not saying I would want him to be on a definite snap count, but more the coaches being conscious about how much he plays. He obviously looked winded in some of his college games being out there that much. It will make our defense better overall to keep people fresh. Think about the 4th quarter defensive losses last year. I think some of that can be attributed to the d line being winded. Just food for though.

Reading comprehension. Star played football at 320. He is at 310 in the offseason. I think he feels like he can be more consistent at 310. In other words, you didn't read my posts.

Not bad reading comprehension. It's more you not giving a definite statement.

I know what you wanted to say at first was he struggled bc he was fat. Don't lie.

Keep in mind that, ideally speaking, an improved defense should be playing fewer snaps overall.

A more effective offense factors into that formula as well.

good points as always.

If you have 120 snaps at DT between the two spots, 30 to Star, 30 to Dwan, 30 to Short, 15 to the 4th guy and 15 of ends playing inside, you're really splitting it fairly evenly.  And 80+% is to a starting level player. Compare that to having one good player in Dwan at 50/game, meaning more than half went to a substandard player* or a player out of position.

*Ron Edwards isn't that good, no.

    • It wasn’t completely his fault, but outside of two throws and one or two scrambles he didn’t do much to help. His accuracy was all over the place, numerous passes that were placed poorly and didn’t give the receiver a good chance to catch the ball or do anything with it after. He also continues to display terrible pocket awareness. Even the sacks could have been avoided, they weren’t immediate like the pressure we got on Shough at times. Bryce just often has no feel for pressure and stands there waiting to get sacked after numerous seconds have passed.
    • I really fuging hate this era in so many ways.  I look at those Adin Ross and Neon kids, and I just wonder why tf are they famous?  Why would anyone be desperate enough to gain THAT audience that they’d risk money, career, disciplinary action to go up there and associate with those fuging dweebs?  And back in my day, racist peers got their ass beat.  And not endorsing or approving bully culture, but checks and balances and all…  had those two been bullied, or at the very least humbled, they wouldn’t be famous and glorified for being the fuging idiots they are now.  It seriously pisses me off… they both have done and said multiple, openly racist stuff and major media keeps pushing them, talking about them, and propping them up… and then dummies like Puka who don’t need the platform or exposure lend their celebrity to them.  fuging idiot… and even the other streamers, I don’t get - Speed, Kai…  I don’t understand making nobodies famous at all, but there is at least entertainment value to some degree there, and I could see how young, impressionable kids would find them something to aspire to (sadly), or view as “cool.”  But Ross and Neon?  They’re just shitty, shitty nerds with big ass mouths. I’ve went back recently and watched some classics (in two very different eras and categories 😂)  like Robocop and Idiocracy.  And what I find fascinating is how both movies illustrate how stupid society became by showing what the citizenry is entertained by.  In both, society became anti-intellectual and the citizenry were entertained by lowest denominator, primal-type absurdity - poo like, “Ouch! My Balls!”  Or on Robocop, a guy is a watching a show where they are smashing cakes on ladies’ breasts and then a guy says a line as the camera zooms in like, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” and the audience thinks it’s hilarious.  That’s where I feel like we are now.  Like who watches that clip with Puka and thinks any of that poo is funny or cool?  If I was Puka, I’d honestly be wondering why tf I’m hanging out with these beta ass, racist, cretin ass weirdos.
    • 7 wins this year and some of those against really good teams and yall think Canales might get fired? Lol Good luck getting a better coach in here if that happens.
