Nice Article on Kuechly "Composing" our Defense (NFL.com)

Recommended Posts

After my raging homerism began to die down some I'm a bit more cautiously optimistic about our front 7.  I'm still excited as all hell, no doubt, but Beason is taking TD's spot where TD just had a hell of a season.  We have to use Beason if he's healthy for obvious reasons, but is it going to be at the expense of increased production if we had just kept Anderson at SLB or picked up a direct replacement?  Beason is probably a liability at SLB, so it makes more sense to slide TD over there, but what if neither really get into the groove of the switch?

Maybe I'm overthinking it and not making sense, sorry if that's the case.  But anyways, here's to Beason coming back and proving he's still one of the best LBs in the game.

I don't kno, but the pics I seen had beason lined up to the left of keek. Isnt that where Anderson played? Of course that doesn't mean he will start their, but it doesn't make sense to move someone who had a monsterous season at their position.

I might be overly optimistic, but I think we have a pretty versatile group. I think they will adjust. However, if Beason doesn't stay healthy, they will have to switch it up again.......

Are we sure Beason is going to the Will spot?

All the reports have me a little confused.

It would make the most sense. I don't think he'll play as well there as TD, but I think he'd be a bigger liability at SLB. TD should be much better at covering TEs.

If Beason can get to his old form(pre-achilles) then he will be very effective at SLB. Our entire front seven can be pro-bowlers at their respective positions

There's more coverage required at Strong. TD is far and away better at dropping into coverage than Beason ever was. Beason should play MUCH better at WLB than SLB. You've got to place all the LBs in spots that will help the unit succeed as a whole.

TD is an overall better athlete than Beason, and that's no knock on Beason. People forget that TD was a fuging free safety in College. (He also played some downs as a rush specialist at the LB position). People tend to forget just how much of an athletic freak TD is after he was hampered with three ACL tears in a row. Dude's a fuging beast.

That last line kinda scared me a little. What's he doing to Beason?

I wish I had done my homework.  I wanted Cox or so bad I could taste it.  Even Poe would have whetted my appetite.  Kuechly may be the greatest pick the Carolina Panthers have EVER made.

I am all in on Luke.

If that's so then maybe we should start putting some of those blames on him instead of Cam. Greatest player gets the greatest blames.
