The racing today is a horrible spectator sport. If it weren't for all the tailgaiting and camping, it would be hard to stomach. They have essentally gotten the cars to all look the same with the aerodynamics so precise, that it makes for a BORING event. Most people these days watch the first and last 20 laps and that is enough. They had better put something besides slot cars on the track soon or the sport will continue to die. 10 yrs ago, there were no open seats. Now look at the tracks and they are a bit over half full.

a lot of the personality is gone. i was a huge fan ~ 1997-2005 and you had gordon, earnhardt, wallace, martin, marlin, etc. it's just boring to me now. I'm a gordon fan so i'll watch if a race happens to be on but once he retires i just don't care anymore

There are so many changes that they need to make to get it back right, I doubt they ever make it. Gordon fan also, been to Daytona, Bristol, Charlotte, of course, but don't have a desire to see any more of the races at the moment. I grew up in the best era with Petty, Pearson, Allison brothers, Yarborough, Waltrip, Earnhardt, etc.

They should get all that splitter crap out from under the front end with a minimum of 6" of opening between the bumper and the pavement. Smaller engines like a 305 or so would help. You do some things like that and the ones that can actually drive would come to the top. Now, it is just a slight touch of another car and half the field is taken out.

I remember when they ran in the 175 range at Lowes M Speedway rather than 195 and the racing was much more entertaining. There is no bumping and rubbing anymore. They are going so fast, they cannot "race"

I have been to the Coca Cola 600 every year since I was 5. I love the tailgating and camping, but i have to admit the racing has got a bit boring the past few years.

But I want to know, which one of you was it I saw walking around with the Jimmy Jersey on and a fanny-pack Sunday at the race. Surely it could have only been a Huddler trying to be funny. No one is that lame, right? Right?

Really? You should have snapped a picture of this. No huddlers are that dumb. Such an act is criminal.

Ill admit I have been a NASCAR downer but I went this weekend and had a freakin fantastic time! Got onto pit row before the race and that was insane.

If you go, you definitely have to camp for the weekend. Great experience!

Not really a "race" fab. But rest assured it is one of the biggest and best parties that you will experience.

It is tailgating on steroids.
