Now that is one thing I don't do.  I don't do thank you e-mails.  I feel it has kind of gone away and no one really expects them anymore, minus maybe some really true older timers.  I just make sure to let them know I appreciate their time and their consideration for the opportunity after the interview.  Maybe it's the field I'm in.  I don't think it would hurt anything though but I'm not sure you need to continue to sell yourself on it, maybe just thank them for their time.  I feel the digital age has really lowered the expectations for a thank you letter since people always have hundreds of e-mails waiting to be read anyway and snail mail is just not even considered.  But like I said, I don't think it can hurt anything :)

and sorry to hijack your thread again....I took the notebook into my interview and the fact I had a couple written questions for them seemed to impress.

 

not my question is...what's the thoughts about a follow up thank you email?  Keeping in mind this was an internal interview.  Should I still write an email on Monday to thank them for the opportunity and add a couple more points on why they should hire me?

That's what I would do.  In fact, i have an interview tomorrow with a company up north that I know I am one of the top candidates for.

Did the interview today, I think it went rather well, oddly enough the guy that was also interviewing for the same position showed up around the same time I did, I showed up 20 minutes early so he was almost an hour early for his which was after mine.

Between the two of us he's more qualified for the position but idk if he's that interested in the Job, he told me he had put out about 10 job applications in the same field of work, and if he took this one he would have to move and he didnt seem that interested in moving. But idk, I'm supposed to hear something back by Friday at the latest so we will see.

Wow, my employers interviews are very different from most of what I read on here.  I got to interview someone a few weeks ago.  My manager, myself, and a coworker sat across from the guy and ask him mostly technical questions.  No one really gives a crap about the touchy feely stuff.

Most of my questions were BS ones written up by some HR department, I felt like i was doing some sort of dog and pony show where i was supposed to say the right things at the right time.

 

I had 3 people each took turns asking a question and all 3 were reviewing my answers to each question, a little intimidating but I think i did pretty good.

That other guy would've already been on bad footing with me.  Showing up an hour before your time is almost as annoying to me as being late.  Not only can you not read a watch, someone has to keep tabs on you until your actual time, and it also tells me that you are either overly paranoid about getting somewhere on time or know that you tend to be late for other things and want to specifically be extra early for this interview just in case.  Either situation would have me saying thanks for trying, here's a lollipop.

Yeah I usually get there 15 minutes early, and go right in or wait 5 and go in.  I think you at least want to be there 10 minutes early.   

 

If he got there that early, he should have at least went somewhere and sat in his car until 10-15 minutes till interview.

Got the call Friday, I passed the interview and have officially entered the hiring process, not sure how long that will take though before I'm officially hired.
