Ted Ginn Jr. wowing Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (ESPN)

If we get 40-50 catches from him with smith's normal 80, we might have something here. But when the season start my focus will be on the OL. If the OL is stout then we can go all out in the off season next year for WRs. I know the defense will be there this year so we don't have to worry too much about that. I think we'll make the playoffs this year.

Niners and Dolphins both had QB's with weak arms.....they could not use him the way we may use him.

I think you will see Ginn used much more here on the outside to stretch the field....he has a QB that can get him the deep ball.

I sure hope so. Ginn and Hixon are both speedsters. I look forward to some 4 WR sets to see what they can do. Our WR corp kind of reminds me of the Saints of recent years, in that we have some little known guys but they could turn out to be very dangerous.

He may be used in a Randy Moss esque way. Just throw him out there to do the deep routes. He may fair better in that area. And he wouldn't have a chance to get lit up.

I do too.

With him and Hixon.....we are definitely upgraded over last year.

If AE can finally give us anything (based on the tweets and comments, he is getting it done as well)....our WR corp may prove to be MUCH better than most thought.

AE lol. Don't hold your breath

only difference between Hixon and Ginn Jr. is that Hixon has the ability to make some pretty spectacular catches, which is why he'll probably end up our #3 over Ginn.

Yeah I was thinkin the same thing. Play to his strengths.  If he can't catch over the middle then don't use him that way. We didn't draft him in the first like the dolphins did so we can afford for him to be more of a one trick pony homerun type of guy.

I read the alligator arms comments and my response to that is we don't need him over the middle.

Ginn in this offense is a "take the top off receiver".  He is not going to be asked to make catches between the hashes (that is Lafell and Smitty's territory).  Ginn will be allowed to run the go route down the sideline and take a corner and potentially a safety out of the play.

I'm really hoping for some 3wr-1-te-1rb sets this year.  (Ginn, Smith, Lafell, Olsen, Williams or Stewart).  I would hope we would do some running out of that formation as a defense will not be able to keep a safety in the box with the threat of Smith or Ginn going over the top.

    • Sounds like the pressure of all the fans wanting him fired might finally be getting to him... That, or Rico said "trade me now if you aren't going to make me the lead back"
    • I have been paying so little attention after losses (and wins, actually, because I'm mildly excited by them), that I missed Dave's seeming change of heart on Rico and Chuba.  Just when I criticized him for not being able to make the tough decisions and wanting to be Mr. Politically Correct nice guy, when asked about the timeshare between Chuba and Rico, he says:   "We cannot ignore the fact that Rico has been exceptional in a couple of games and in the opportunities he's had over the last two weeks. He's made some excellent plays, love the tempo and violence that he's running with. And these are all things we're talking about and working through this week as we look back on these last four games and really taking a snapshot of what's been successful for us. These are conversations that we do definitely have to have."   On basically whether or not it was his job to keep the RBs "happy," DC replied:   "Yeah, that's not the goal," he replied. "The goal is to make sure we put the right guys out there. That's my job. So I really do have to look at that and evaluate it and make the best decision for the Panthers, collectively. And for me, I have to make sure I keep it about the football."   So now all of a sudden, he knows his job. Well, some of you might say that he always knew his job. My response is that he surely wasn't putting it into action. You watch what people do, not what they say. And that even applies here. We'll actually see if his actions match the words of his newfound epiphany pertaining to our two top RBs., something that we saw a couple of weeks ago (or at least a week ago).    https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/10/27/panthers-week-8-dave-canales-rico-dowdle-chuba-hubbard/86923984007/
    • Just about everyone I have ever seen that was a first time HC, mostly successful coordinators, said there was stuff they couldn’t have imagined.  Canales only had one season as a coordinator. A steep learning curve should be expected. Help in the form of a mentor would have been a good idea.
