gettis quietly...?

When Rivera says things like this it gives me pause. Hartsock has been in the league since 2004, and he's on his fifth team. During that time span he's accumulated 312 yards and one TD, which occured back in 2009 with the Jets.

I'm sorry but this does not make me feel better in the slightest. It makes me feel a lot worse actually.

Who knows maybe Shula is planning on more 3 WR sets and having two good TE's is less of priority, but I'd still expect us to pick up a TE during the training camp cuts.

Also since Gettis isn't a RR guy (drafted before he got here), I wouldn't be surprised if we kept Adams or Pilares over Gettis.

Not only do I hate Joe Person as a beat writer, but when I found out he was a USC GameDick, it made me hate him as a person (punny)

He wasn't a Gamecock, he just worked for a website called "gogamecocks.com" which is a run off of "The State" newspaper, which is the last place I go for Gamecock news.  He was horrible there too.   If we were lucky enough for him to go cover another team and Panther fans had to deal with the stigma that we were Person fans,  we would all hate him even more.  This is how Gamecock fans feel about him.  At least we were smart enough to get rid of him.

And by the way, why do you hate the Gamecocks so much?

Among a multitude of reasons, I will pick out my top 2:

And Number 2:

I used to hate Spurrier when he coached the gators.  He always seemed smug.  However, I really feel that his vibe and persona have changed since those days, especially since he got an opportunity to fail in the pros.  Since he's been our coach I've grown to admire him for his honesty, integrity,  and his ability to build a program.  He's done a lot of great things not only for the University but the state as a whole.   There are new complexes built at the school with the money he's helped bring in.  You could argue he's had a small role in the recent success of our baseball team because of the investments in the new stadium/ facility, money he helped bring in.  USC has recently opened a Gamecock store  on King St down here in Charleston that also has USC guidance counselors on staff helping prospective students.

We used to get no respect in football.  Now we've finished top 12 the past two years, top 25 the past 4 or 5 seasons.  We own Clemson.  We've owned any NC based school. Point blank, he's turned us into the best team in the region.   If he decided to leave USC and be closer to Pinehurst and coach ECU you would be ecstatic.

But yes a lot of Gamecock fans are obnoxious, UGA fans are the worst.

Plus because of him we have those badass camo unis.

joe Person sucks as a beat writer, most of his stuff seems to be what if or could be, he's a reporter he should be focused on facts.

Can't disagree with anything you said. However, hatred for South Carolina (notice I don't call it USC or even worse what really makes my blood boild is when it's referred to as CAROLINA), is ingrained in my DNA I suppose.

Rivera just hates Gettis. Gettis will probably go to the Patriots or Broncos and become a star. He was awesome his first year

I thought about that. There are probably several teams hoping we are foolish enough to cut him. I wish Gettleman's approach to D-line applied to WRs ie. you can't teach size and speed. We have like seven 5'9" medium speed guys. I don't know why they wouldn't give Gettis reps with Cam based on his tangibles alone.

I think you gotta throw Hixon in there as the #3 even though he's not practicing right now.  He and Ginn with both see time at the 3. AE is definitely in the top 5 - he's ahead of Ginn at this point in the depth chart and with the plays he's making.

I could agree with the Hixon as #3  Not sure AE is ahead of Ginn.  Both had good OTAs and mini-camps  Ginn can stretch the field unlike anyone we have on the roster.  Well Gettis but no one knows whether his injuries will have an effect on his speed.

I honestly wish somebody could find out what is going on with Gettis.

Is he not running the the right routes or doesn't know the playbook or is he dropping everything.

Some of these reports from PY and J Person make it seem like it's a pre determined decision.

That it's already a done deal and Gettis is out.

If so why not cut him and let him try to catch on a team before TC??  That is a shitty way to treat a guy to keep him on your team if you plan on cutting him.

I really think that the whole RR/Gettis thing from last season... no matter what it was... is still lingering.

I don't recall ever hearing what happened there. but he came off the PUP list if I recall and then was in for 3 plays total and was never seen again.

if I recall someone said something about Gettis being upset he wasn't on the field and RR got on him? or something like that.... I can't recall exactly. But, if the guy is on the roster now, he should get a fair shake as all the rest. We've heard about Adams dropping punts, but have we heard about Adam catching passes or Pilares?

Maybe they are just catching passes are are not "spectacular" catches.. so nothings being reported?

Again tho, it's not TC with pads, and not preseason with real game action.

I think that's where Gettis showed up... not practice... kinda like Jake. If I recall he wasn't a good practice QB, but was pretty dam good on game day.

We're all in wait and see mode tho... so I guess we'll wait and see.

We may never know but I would imagine it was something he did or more than likely did not do in the game and at practice. I cannot imagine that Rivera has a personal vendetta. I think he will be given another chance in camp but at this point I am not optimistic.

    • Nice.  Allar is intriguing.  He's a medical red flag.  I'm not sure when he would be available.  However, we aren't moving off Bryce at least until '27, so he'd have time.  I'd be shocked if Young is not our starting QB next year. The OL needs some reinforcement, I agree . Moton's contract is a beast as well as the guards we signed in FA.  Corbett is hurt all the time and BC is nice depth, but a mediocre starter.  Defense is a must.  You hit some critical areas--Edge, LB, CB.  I would like to see another safety as well.
    • I don’t know how people could not see it. I am no draft scout and never claimed to be.  It is a situation where when you look at him, what does he have physically that is better than NFL average? Nothing that I could see.  Not foot speed. Not arm strength.  Then you look at his size and it is well below all but Murray in my memory for the modern NFL era.  Murray has the plus athleticism/quickness and a plus  arm. I still wouldn’t want him because of his size.   But Bryce had none of that to offset his size.  So okay now that I have assessed Bryce I don’t want him. It was a simple checklist. Except I see all this talk that they might take him. So now I decide I need to look at him closer.  Pro day video… I see what I called a skip step. A little extra move on the deep pass. I look at the velocity of his throws, NFL average is being kind. I look at that footwork and it is big time wonky.  So there you are, lower ball velocity in my opinion   That adds time in a league where guys are timed down to the 100th of a second. Not a plus. It is questionable. Then the extra move on the deep balls which is time, in the face of pressure, and space, also in the face of pressure…  it is a stack of negatives and the guy had nothing athletically to offset it. And it is the 1.1 of the NFL draft where there has  never been a successful player with his attributes at his position, in the modern era.  In his case you don’t have to be a super scout. You just had to look and think about him in relationship to the NFL game.    I never watched him in college and think that prevented me from rationalizing things. I had no bias in that regard and I believe others might have.    Combine that with a personal opinion that the SEC is not the NFL and there was no automatic approval  because of the level of competition level he faced….    On that front I feel there are single digit examples of guys who truly could be in the NFL in their final year of college. The freaks. The rest of them… take what they were their fist NFL camp and give the a season in the league and an offseason with the resources and standards of NFL conditioning and strength programs and compare them to a year before… you will see a difference. And they aren’t finished growing either so that plays into it.  It is was a bunch of factors that just equaled do not do this. It gets a lot harder if he had the size to measure up to these normal prospects with the prototypical physiques, and the cannon arm, etc. I never could claim to be good at eyeballing comparisons between two players like that.   Bryce was such a unique situation. Anyway that was the process.   Looking at guys that people compared him to was also informative, since Brees was the big one. And if you honestly look at Brees and his size, people comparing the two like they are 1 to 1, it was smoke. I am always suspicious of smoke blowing, when I find it.  Saying I was not special I just used my brain and eyes and they are not special either. So I had a very hard time understanding what people were thinking.
