Is Coleman worth a look in the supplemental draft?

I dont think he is eligible and by all accounts I have read he is playing next year and planning to enter the 2014 draft.  The six players that appear to be eligible are:

 

DE James Boyd, UNLV

DT Nate Holloway, UNLV

DE Toby Jackson, Central Florida

WR DeWayne Peace, Houston

WR O.J. Ross, Purdue

DB Damond Smith, South Alabama

 

If he were/is eligible then he might be worth a look. Sounds very interesting as he could be a gem.

The supplemental draft uses the lottery style draft.  You bid a pick on a player and who ever bids highest wins.  What ever pick you bid you lose come next draft.  Say we bid a second rounder on a player and win, now we have no 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.  

 

 

I say no to this.  For the first time in a long time we have our full compliment of draft picks and this seems to be a pretty good draft for WR coming up.  Lets just play this out.

Didn't the Browns have to give up like a 3rd for Joe Haden?

None of those guys intrigue me.

Browns took a second in the supplimental on Josh Gordon. Worked well for them.

I agree though you shouldn't give up picks unless you think there is somebody that can make an immidiate impact.

Haden was a top ten pick in his draft. They did give a 2nd rounder last year in the supplemental draft for Josh Gordon, who actually played pretty well for them last year.

yea I would only do this if I felt like WR was the ONLY piece we absolutely needed to guarantee a superbowl run

someone mentioned in a post above but it's a bidding system. The highest bidder is awarded the player, but loses that pick in the following draft. So if we bid a third rounder, but the 49ers bid a second rounder and no one else places a bid- the 9ers will be awarded the player but lose their 2014 second rounder.

Team places a pick (any round they choose) on said player. Then the highest pick wins. If two teams place the same bid the player goes to the one with the worst record.

      Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.

      I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.

      Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
