FYI anybody that runs over a big yoga ball with a lawn mower did it on purpose just so they could see what happens. I bet it was awesome.

My boys want a dog something fierce. I might break down and do it.

MrPF did it...he was the driver...Izzy was out there barking at the front wheel like it was trying to attack her or something...he rode right up on it..POP! a little piece of her died inside...I laughed...

I popped one of my kids big ass bouncy balls the other day. poo was loud and awesome. Think my next adventure is driving up on one with a mower.

Would have loved to do a rescue and admire those who do. At the same time i wanted a known quantity. I'm not enough of a dog person to handle an abused or nutso dog.

Anyway 4 or so people in my neighborhood have gotten goldens from a certain breeder and they are all lovely and relaxed. Call me selfish.

So here is the puppy.

Cute puppy! Love the first picture :)

Rescue doesn't mean abused or nutso though..my neighbor bought a golden retriever..and that dog is as dumb as a box of hair ...so just b/c it's a pure bred puppy doesn't mean it's not gonna have problems. Izzy is high energy but not hyper by any means, I've taken her on 6 mile runs and she's smiling the whole time..or she'll cuddle with you on the couch the whole day if you're hung over..she rarely barks (the fact she wasn't barking in her kennel at the pound is what caught my attention), she's super smart and she has manners. It's also b/c I'm the one who teaches her those too though..it's the owner, not the dog is most cases.

I love when people rescue dogs and give them a better life.  All of my dogs have been rescue till my wife and I got our Min Pin that she wanted (she wanted a pure bread and we couldn't find a rescue in the area).  Congrats to you and your dog who I'm sure is thankful her former owners gave up on him as well....

That dog is gonna need lots and lots of exercise! I hope you have it in you!!

It somewhat bothers me that you say "I'm not enough of a dog person to handle an abused or nutso dog". If you're not a "dog person" then you got the wrong dog.

You should never have gotten a dog just because "it's what the neighbors were doing", Goldens are a high energy breed and love attention (if you have access to water that is a MAJOR plus).

A dog is a 10 to 15 year commitment and relationship, and what they give back is immeasurable! If it's just gonna be something you keep in your back yard and feed and water everyday please find another home for it, it's not a goldfish!

I'm sorry if I stereotyped you, but I've seen too many situations like what I described and it tears me up! If you make the dog happy, the dog will make you happy!

Congrats and, speaking on behalf of dogs waiting for someone to rescue them, thank you!

Our guy is now 2 1/2 and 95 pounds of pure joy. We lost our black lab of 15 years 3 years ago and our 18-year old chow/shepard just a couple months ago. Chief has been our savior without even knowing. We moved 3 weeks ago and went from a 2400sf 2-story on an acre to a 1400sf single story on a postage stamp lot as a rental while house hunting and he is completely depressed. He just lays near the windows and stares outside because he has no room to run and hang out.

We had a dog door and could leave our doors open at our previous house and he came and went as he pleased, completely boundary-trained. Now, until we find a suitable property with the area he needs to run and be happy, we're relegated to long neighborhood walks, which suck when he's used to running through the woods chasing deer or running on the golf course early in the morning, swimming in the lake...

Good for you and her.

I lost my boy late last year, and still have not gotten another one, but when I do it will have to come from a breeder.

The next one can't shed as my gf, as we just found out, is allergic to dogs.

Most likely a golden doodle.

    • No poo tho you might could Jenkins for Legette. They got nothing at WR after the big 2 in Cincy. I don’t think you trade away OL depth. Could get a quality player in cuts. Really that 3-4 end spot what you should be looking for is someone who is stout with long arms and can push back the OL in both the run and pass game for others to make plays…. But we signed Wharton, sometimes I think Evero is a fraud ass nerd who should be an analyst at best.
    • you would honestly probably do Monroe Freeling more of a disservice by putting him in a position where is not yet ready to succeed. .we all knew Monroe Freeling struggled at the NFL combine in drills because of technique related issues & would need time to develop  & now all of a sudden before they even put the pads on Monroe Freeling is somehow a starting LT in the NFL ? if he struggled at the NFL scouting combine what do you actually think is going to happen in a live NFL game at LT ? .even our best LT of all time was not ready to start at LT when he was a rookie & he turned out to be a pretty good darn LT by the name of Jordan Gross ...just saying be patient Young Jedis
    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
