SHOW ME THE LIGHT! How have Star and Short looked in Training Camp

Recommended Posts

From what it appears, after reading numerous write ups about camp is that Short has been surprisingly good. Star seems a little out of shape, but is holding his own. The DT position is probably the hardest to evaluate in "semi-contact" drills.

It has been quoted numerous times that Short is very explosive and quick for his size. We will know more about star after the preseason game I am sure

When we drafted the two....KK always seemed like the one who could shine early. Star is a good all around DT but wasn't known for his pass rush. KK was arguably the best at that in the draft....and that pass rush gives him the ability to stand out better IMO. Doesn't mean he is better overall....Star just can do some non sexy stuff

Just having guys in the middle to hold their ground, eat up blocks, and not get pushed back will be a huge upgrade. Kuechly may have close to 200 tackles this year if Star and Short are as advertised

Reports have been that Star looks tired, out of shape, and Amini completely dominated him a few days ago at practice.

Haven't heard all that much from Short besides a few tweets saying that he looks good and explosive.

I didnt hear that star was out of shape, just that he's adjusting to the speed. And I can't remember if it was sunday or saturday but zod tweeted that star actually got the better of Amini that day. I'm not sure that means much at this point but we'll see how star has adjusted come preseason.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
