Does anyone else think Robertson has been sitting around waiting for us to sign him?

lol yes after Denver switched to the 3-4, which he wouldn't fit in and would be making a pooload of money to sit around and be fat.

If the dude could play he would still be on the Jets, and Broncos regardless of what scheme they run. If not, he would at least gotten SOME trade interests. It speaks volumes that he still remains unsigned this far into free agency.

i don't agree about still being with the jets and the broncos. he flat out didn't fit their scheme and they had just gotten fatty jenks who did fit it. they needed a NT and robertson is far too small to be trying that so they traded him. they got value out of it. the broncs were just stupid. this is the team that got rid of a probowl QB and is about to get rid of a good WR because their HC who is barely out of high school had to try and play tough guy in the school parking lot. still wasn't a bad idea moing him off the team. he wasn't going to fit the scheme. he isn't a NT which is what they were going to be needing.

now in regards to him still being unsigned: that bothers me.

We did not pick up one, ONE decent FA this year. We picked up Marcus Monk (not Art) and Justin Geisinger. With those two, we definitely will get over the hump. Seriously, both will be cut and we will have the exact same team as last year except the rookies and minus Lucus.

Would it absolutely kill us to get s decent DT? I mean REALLY!

How quickly people forget our lack of cap space.
i thnk there are two things driving this new discussion about robertson: 1) he has been on the market for how long and still without a job? that drives the price tag down. 2) peppers is likely on the verge of a long term contract which may loosen up the coinage. robertson price going down a little and our cap room loosening up just a little may make it work.

It's a perfect scenario, but what if Peppers is unwilling to sign right now. He's set to make 1 million dollars a game. Why should he renegotiate a contract that will lower that per game amount? I'd wait until years end, but then again it is Peppers/Carey...

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
