Bit of a wild week around the league

Jets QB Mark Sanchez got the starting nod tonight, and on his first pass threw a pick six...on a screen pass...to a defensive lineman.  Ouch.

The good news for Sanchez - if you can call it that - is that Geno Smith was said to be unimpressive as well and may have injured his ankle.

In a "this could get interesting" moment, Justin Blackmon was escorted off the field in Jacksonville after having a heated discussion with...a teammate (DE Jason Babin).  Jags coach Gus Bradley was reportedly pissed at Blackmon afterward.

Apparently unnoticed in tonight's Panther game, Bears DT - and franchise player - Henry Melton, left the game early with a concussion.

Looks like another dumpster fire year for the Jets. Sucks for them.

Blackmon is a talented receiver, but his penchant for trouble and poor decision making combined with playing in Jacksonville with the worst QB's imaginable could mean a short NFL career if he doesn't get out of there.

Apparently Terrell McClain is on the Texans now and had 2.5 sacks in their game against the Vikings.  It was probably against 3rd stringers, but still interesting nonetheless...

Obviously our DT situation is looking awesome right now, but I still thought we cut ties with McClain too early.

Didn't he play for the Falcons briefly last year too?

I remember the Terrel McClain pick, do you guys remember who was drafted one pick ahead of him?? Randall Cobb. I face palmed. I wanted Cobb so bad.

Jarred Green caught a few balls for the Cowboys, I wish him the best.

I don't understand why everyone calls the Jets a dumpster fire all the time. Yeah they have a bad QB and a loud mouth coach but they were 6-10 last year. The Chiefs had the worst record in the league and nobody says poo about them. The Panthers were only 7-9 and people act like the Jets are a free win this year. Rex coaches really sound defense, I expect another mediocre season from them.

He never played for the Falcons from what I remember.  He got signed by the Patriots shortly after we cut him, but I think he only stuck with them for a week or so before he got cut again.  Not sure when the Texans picked him up...

I liked McClain. He wasn't as bad as what most fans thought of him before he was cut. Fua is terrible one and should have been the one who got gutted.

unnoticed by the announcers.

They also didn't play Peppers, so if you think the 1st string OL didn't do so badly, just keep that in mind.

I would have 3 years ago. The Peppers we see now and the one that played for the Panthers are two different players.

    • Bryce Young has recorded 4 game-winning drives through nine weeks, leading the Carolina Panthers to crucial victories in tight contests. The 12-play, 58-yard clock-killer versus the Packers in Week 9 (16-13 upset). This pace positions him as the team's most clutch performer in years, with a 68.4% success rate on go-ahead drivesalready surpassing many franchise benchmarks early in his career.   Young's early 2025 surge (top-5 league-wide in clutch EPA at 0.28 per dropback) not only outstrips the debuts of Newton (2 in 2011) and Delhomme (1 in 2003) but hints at him climbing this list quickly if the Panthers sustain their wildcard hunt. Data underscores his growth: no other Panther QB hit 4 GWDs before Week 10 in a season.   The energy fans pour into the stadium directly shapes Bryce Young’s performance positive support has been shown to elevate his fourth-quarter efficiency by 12%, strengthening team cohesion and execution under pressure. Criticizing or booing the starting quarterback fractures morale, disrupts focus, and undermines the very resilience needed in clutch moments. When fans stand firmly behind their QB and team, they become a true home-field advantage, amplifying performance and accelerating the path to sustained success. Now are you a Carolina Panther fan or a Panther hater?
    • Bryce would have extended some plays scrambling with his legs but then again he also has a high number of fumbles so you never know what you're going to get and the way the Bills were getting after Andy (sacked 7 times) it stands to reason Bryce would have been under duress often. What exactly do you want here? I mean I'm going to go by the gameplan I saw after Bryce turned the ball over against GB. Clearly Dave Canales was deliberately trying to limit the opportunities for him to make a catastrophic mistake. And didn't Micah Parsons log zero QB pressures? So with that in mind if you are asking for anyone to argue our offense with Bryce would have had much if any success against that opportunistic motivated Bills defense while we were also splitting carries between Rico and Chuba who had the majority of them which ended up being a situation resulting in a weeks worth of scathing criticism and deservedly so then I'm going to just have to say we can agree to disagree.
