How will Cam be better this year?

I think he has worked on his mechanics and is doing a better job of stepping into throws (based on the few throws I have seen).  In addition, the running game will keep defenses from pinning their ears back.

Cyberjag makes a good point too.  He has some tools on checkdowns and screens.

As long as we win, he will be fine.  I think it might be just that simple.  The problem is that it is much harder to lose and get better than it is to win and get better and obviously we will not win them all.  So how he will get better is shortening his memory from one week to the next and even from one play to the next.  Unfortunately that lesson for a superstar and champion at all previous levels only comes with time and, well, losing.

He may not be much better. Regardless of what the media says the third year is not the magical year where everything comes together. As a matter of fact many great QBs slightly regressed their 3rd it 4th seasons

It is usually year 4/5. With Cam there has always been a need for patience. Unfortunately in this day and age that is harder to do.

Cam just needs to keep doing what he is doing and he will continue to improve. He is great and is going to only get better.

I am confident Cam will continue to improve and we as fans will see noticeable strides in his game in these areas:

  • Better accuracy in his short and intermediate routes.
  • Better pocket awareness.
  • Patience; meaning Cam will take what the defense gives him rather than go for the big play when it isn't necessarily there.
  • Improved clock management; Cam and the offense will get to the line faster and get the ball snapped.
  • More trust and a better feel for his receivers. I think his overall timing and completion percentage will improve a bit.

I wonder what Davis said to Cam when Cam was mugging for the camera towards the end of the game.  I know.  It was just a preseason game but Davis looked very annoyed and I noticed that he walked 30 yards to say something to Cam.

I was wondering the same thing maybe told Cam to cool it down

Davis was annoyed with things late.....which is why he pointed out to Cam some BLEEPITY BLEEP BLEEP.

Cam is a big kid. Anyone annoyed with that needs to realize it is okay to have fun.

    • This is one of my key concerns lost in the sauce that is the neverending conversation about him evading pressure and the OL. Eventually any QB is going to have to step up into the pocket and show the defense they can still beat them even if they get through. We have a limited QB who cannot consistently do this and as such we are relegated to going back and forth about how successful he was at evading pressure but we have little else to write home about. Tyler Shough stepped up into the pocket and made plays despite being pressured and sacked. He's played in about 35 less games than Bryce Young. That is a problem. And isn't just going to go away. The Bucs are going to do the same thing after watching the film.
    • Oh, absolutely! That doesn't absolve the absolute dogshit hockey that the team played in front of him, though. Only Cane that played well tonight was Bradly Nadeau.
    • Thanks for illustrating my point.  No one in the last several pages of this discussion is suggesting we should hang on to him, but anytime someone says anything less than "take him out back and shoot him" you act like they are. That's either you not understanding what you're reading or just being a nimrod because you can't keep up. (I would have said 'or just sh-tposting' but you're way too emotional on this topic for that) Either way, the result is the same 😆
