In 2011, he had only 155 carries, but for 836 yards (5.4ypc) and 7 TDs. Don't see why he can't replicate that type of performance...I'm sure his ypc will go down just by increasing his carry count, but I don't see why he can't average at least 4.0 ypc (his lowest ever ypc average was last year, and even then it was 4.1).

I think if D-Will gets at least 250 carries this year, he will be a 1,000 yd back again...

His final season stat sheet hasn't looked that bad....but I just don't think he is that effective in our new O.

I know it isn't the gospel but there is a reason why PFF will study both seasons and Williams grades out negative and Stewart positive in both 2011 and 2012 despite the end of the year stat sheet saying the same.

He seems to go nowhere to often. The big runs even out his stats but it is all the stalled drives and runs to nowhere that hurt us moving

Won't matter who's playing RB if our OL can't open up any holes. Feel better about the left side though

Tolbert can at least grind out some positive yards...may be unimpressive but that is better than negative runs

I feel D-Will is going to have a breakout year this year.

I have said that the past 2.....so its worth nothing.....but, alas, I believe it to be true again.

You don't tend to breakout 5 years after your breakout year...

Has there even been an update on Tolbert's health? I thought he has missed a significant amount of camp and practice. Is he good to go for week one?

Tolbert claims he can play...RR says they are being cautious...

Based on how they looked last year....and based on what Shula has done in the past. I am hoping our power run game is Tolbert (Alstot approach)....

I agree in that he's not a great fit for a read option-heavy attack. But if we are going back to a more traditional offense with a read-option wrinkle thrown in now and again (I think we will run read-option at least once on every drive btw, just not every single snap of every drive), I think he can succeed again. DeAngelo's clearly a better downhill runner even though people think he's the kind of guy that dances/bounces outside.

We were only heavily read option in 4 of the 32. Four games in 2012 can't be why they grade him negative in both years and Stewart positive.

That is basically what we use Stewart as. I think having one less RB to divvy up carries which could actually help Dwill and Tolbert get in rhythm better, IF our oline can actually make some holes. I HOPE we see a lot of Screens, bootlegs, designed rollouts, nohuddle  to put the defense on their heels. Deangelo in space or with a cutback lane is dangerous. I think we should use him like Green Bay used to use Ahman Green, not run him into a wall of defenders.
