You just proved to me that you FOR SURE don't know crap about the Hawks.

Tim Ruskell, our former GM, drafted Aaron Curry. We got rid of his pompous ass and got a REAL GM. Just saying.

You just proved for sure you Don't know anything about the panthers, we also fired our gm and got a Real GM.

I'm desperately trying to be nice to you all, as Hawk is my friend and I don't want to hurt his people.

Actually I've been a fan way longer than your franchise has existed. Just because your team is good doesn't mean your a bandwagon fan. I've been following my team through thick and thin. Now that we're contenders nobody will stop us. Not even a team as irrelevant as the fuggin Carolina Panthers.

If you don't care then you wouldn't have replied.

You just contradicted yourself, if you don't care then don't contribute to the discussion.

You're on a Panthers message board.

I don't care about you or your Team but no ones comes in here acting like they run the place without getting put back in their place.

You're like a few hated posters who never reply to the facts presented to them and always change the subject.

Fact is Steve Smith has more yards than your entire receiving corps and that is even when you include the injured Harvin.

You're team can only come up with 9 playoff wins in 37 years.

Luke Kuechly is the reigning defensive Rookie of the Year yet in your homer eyes Wagner is better.

There's no point in talking "smack" when the fact is you come in here looking foolish.

In fairness, I think they are a damn talented team.

But, dont ,mosey your latte sipping ass w

Into my forum and start trying to throw your weight around.

The Huddle has been, exceptionally respectful to our week 1 opponent. Should we assume defeat? That would make for poor fandom.

either you or one of your cohorts was slamming moves marty hurney made in this thread.  he was the one who signed williams, stewart, and beason to those awful contract extensions and was fired in the middle of last season.

our current GM has a championship pedigree and gave us a nice draft and free agency period in spite of the disaster he inherited.  although hurney did draft an OROTY and DROTY in back to back drafts and landed hardy in the 6th round if you want to go there.

You tell me one time Hawk has thrown around this kind of weak smack, and I'll forgive the light-handed handling.

But this stuff is just....sad. And needs to be corrected.

If RSherman25 has taught us anything with his Wagner > Kuechly BS, its that we must have looked pretty dumb back in 2008 when we said Beason was better than Willis.

beason was at least an all pro that season and followed it up with another the next year.  they were 1a and 1b at that time in a lot of peoples' minds.  the wagner > kuechly bullshit is just trolling.

injuries hurt beason more than any particular deficiency in his game.  he was at the very least comparable to willis a few years back.

    • He is a great guy but a horrible reporter. He makes my skin crawl when I hear his name. I heard that babies cry and dogs attack him when he enters a room. Other than that he is a good dude. Now go burn in hades u sum bit.
    • The job just really passed him by. He came up when basically you just needed to get three or four quotes, toss a couple of team provided stats in there, and stretch it out to column length. you got your copy in by 330, out the door by 4, then chill/shmooze the rest of the day. If you were really good you got a book deal. Every now and then you got to write an editorial. The goal of the profession was like Peter King where ostensibly you’re a beat writer for whomever but you get paid to just shoot the poo. now it’s a 24 hour job, you’ve gotta be social media savvy, the pace has increased substantially, you’re expected to produce more than ever, you gotta be able to look through bullshit etc. there’s still risk of industry capture where you just become a mouth piece. Sheena Quick is obviously shameless. I don’t think Newton ever aspired to be more than an inoffensive beat writer, but even that relatively simple role was just more than he was cut out for. its even worse when you’re covering a team that expects the Fourth Estate to act as a PR extension, or considers them on par with buying Twitter bots to promote Bryce. there were over thirty papers that covered the panthers first training camp. In that environment there’s room for boring guys like newton, and they may even be incentivized to push the boundary a little. But today that just isn’t the case and most of the guys are hanging on until retirement (person, gantt) or they’re good and gonna be matched up like Jordan. im not defending the current state of sports journalism, just saying that what counts as a meat and potatoes beat writer passed newton by. He’s retiring well past his sell by date, but that’s pretty common for his generation in general.
