This week marks the 10th season of the Huddle

I'm curious Zod. Why did you start the Huddle? Just a big Panther fan? Business opportunity? Like you said its a big pain in the ass. I wouldn't be so ambitious myself.

Zod can correct me, but I believe that the Huddle came into existence because Zod had inside info that the forum on Panthers.com was going to be shut down due to all the stupidity.  I forget the year (but it was probably around 2003), but I vaguely remember someone soliciting a new Panthers forum (presumably the Huddle) on that site, and then a few weeks later they were shut down and some people just kind of migrated to the Huddle, and the Huddle grew from there.  Ironically, now there is a forum on the Panthers site, again, that isn't even in the same league.

My wife would probably like to kill Zod. I've never seen her hate all over my happiness like she does with this site. If I giggle while looking at this site she gives me this venomous look that's difficult to describe. Every unfinished house project, ruined movie, and general lack of attention at my house is basically at least 80% traceable back to here.

My wife abhors the T&A pics/gifs on this site, and calls us juvenile.  Well...

Call of Duty, the Carolina Huddle and the NFL are a scourge to women everywhere as far as my wife is concerned, but especially the NFL during football season.

Before the season started, she tried to make a deal with me that she would actually watch all the Panthers games with me, and even play fantasy football.  I knew I was in for something, and grinned while she was speaking.  She said the only thing I had to do was watch Panthers games only (which I could actually live with if I had to), but I love football too much. I said "No way!"

Been a lurker since 2011... 2 and a half years to be exact. Never really post much but I feel like I know all of you. My gf thinks I spend too much time on here, especially the fact I only post once a month or so. But I read all the threads at least once a day.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

I started posting in '05, paid the $12 in April'06 so I could start a thread about my son being born, 'The world had a new Panther fan..'. Back then Zod didnt care about post count to start a thread, you had to pay the man...

Ive said it before, & shall continue to say it. This is the best damn site around. Panthers, NFL, bewbs, baseball, anything & everything, I love this place.... Many thanks Mr.Igo......

Let her know this girl loves all three. :)

I've had a COD itch for at least a week. Gotta find some time to play.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
