Fixing the Panthers Offense in 4 Easy Steps

i saw a couple times where we just barely got the ball snapped before time ran out. at a home game, that's inexcusable, esp. when we were told that the streamlined offense would prevent that.

I have a bad feeling that its not going to change. Shula has always been knocked for not getting plays in quickly, taking too much time to call them.

Hopefully it was just a one game thing, opening day jitters. We need to speed things up.

I think the game plan was decent to start the game and feel them out, but adjustments should have been made in the second half.  You gotta let Cam take some chances.  Worst case he throws an INT deep and the defense holds on forcing a punt again.  With this kind of defense we can afford some mistakes, and we can afford taking more chances to score.  All the great QB's throw interceptions sometimes because they are trying to score, we weren't trying to score yesterday until we went down.  I don't know what exactly i was watching. Rivera himself needs to grow some balls, that 4th and inches are you F'n kidding me!  We have Cam Newton who could fall down and get 3 inches.  Would Jim Harbaugh punted there?

Well, we almost got half of that.

My bad, thats good enough. Theres always next week.

We could have won the game 7-6 we lead for the majority of the game. The defense gave up a late score and we were in position to take the lead and Deangelo fumbled.

This game wasn't a shoot out it was a defensive power struggle and the defense lost the battle. We need to worry about how to fix our secondary. Wilson was running for his life all game but when he was able to look down field receivers were wide open. That zone was crap and he picked it apart for 300+ yards.

This game was going to come down to not what the offenses would do but which defense would make a play when it mattered. Their defense made the plays in the win to end it. Ours once again let them drive down the field and run out the clock.

Poor Cam once again looking for an opportunity to go win the game. Denagelo took that opportunity from him and the defense couldn't get him another one.

Some might say we gave the game away but after thinking about it their defense literally took it and ours couldn't take it back.

Considering they were on the field for most of the second half, its a wonder they were able to run at all.

i think you're right about the secondary, but the offense should have scored more or at least got us un field goal range more than once. i'm not blaming this on cam. i'm blaming it on the secondary being weak and the receivers not hanging on to balls, williams fumbling, and game management that couldn't get the ball down the field and giving up on drives too early.

Time of possession was about even. A lot of that was special teams fault not the offense. Being tired can't be an excuse. If they were on the field then so was Seattle's offense. Can't use tired as an excuse. They had them backed up inside the ten yard line you have to get that stop for your offense.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
