What kind of head coach does this team need?

The Question

Recommended Posts

For the last 3 years I've been watching quietly, never vented about Rivera, never jumped onto the Huddle in a spat after a loss to call for his job. After week 2 in Buffalo I can whole heatedly declare that my position has changed. I think deep down since him being brought in we all had lingering questions as to, is this guy really savvy enough to run an NFL team? I know I did. He just doesn't seem that intelligent. You see the Harbaughs, Sean Payton, Pete Carrol, Mike Mcarthy. Unarguably successful coaches in the NFL, one thing you can attest to is all then being pretty intelligent guys. You can tell when they speak, you can tell by their teams on the field and the product they put on the field on Sundays. Does this team need to finally make a switch to a more control oriented, play calling coach? I know I'm ready to see a guy with a headset on with a huge play sheet actually asserting some control as to how this team plays on Sunday. I think it's time we found a scientist.

The only requirement I have is that he has been a head coach prior to taking this job.  I don't care what level:  College, NFL, CFL, Europe, whatever.  I just want the next coach to know how to manage a game, properly use timeouts, and not challenge insanely stupid things.

A coach that is accountable. A coach that directs criticism away from the players. A coach that can tailor their scheme to the players they have available. A coach that is able to make in game adjustments. A coach that is able to make calculated risks. A coach that is not a DEFENSIVE minded coach.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
