I find it harder to believe he has progessed, at all. He has hit his ceiling as a receiver in this league.

 

you're probably right, but even if he plays at the same level as last year he's still statistically a middle-of-the-road WR2. not great, not terrible, about on par for secondary receivers in the NFL. teams with two number ones like atlanta are an exception rather than the rule.

 

remember also cam has about half the number of passing yards after week two as we normally expect him to have, which is a hell of a lot less balls tossed overall that could inflate everyone's numbers. even smitty, at this rate, will have less than 900 yards receiving on the season.

It's not balls thrown- If Cam's averages hold up (from the first 2 games), he will throw 3 more passes than last year, and complete 16 more. It's we are missing the big plays from last year keeping his yards down. And believe it or not, even though Smitty is often thought of as our big play guy, it is actually Lafell (avg. 15 yards a catch) that was responsible for A LOT of big plays.

 

If the O-line gives Cam more time- Lafell will do a lot better.

I watched him the first game and I don't think he sucks. He certainly has been open this year

 

I will specifically key in on him on Sunday at the game.

      Was just thinking about it, and the game Bryce just had was probably the absolute worst thing that could have happened for our chances in this upcoming game. We beat the Packers for the same reason we lost to the Saints.  We didn't take the Saints seriously while looking ahead to the Falcons during the week and they took advantage of it, just as the Packers didn't take us seriously while looking ahead to the Eagles and we took advantage of it. Bryce having that game just now put the 49ers on full alert this week in practice, combined with a MNF game where they don't want to get embarrassed by losing to the Panthers on that stage, and I think we're getting their absolute best this week.  It also doesn't help that the 49ers next 2 games are the Browns and Titans, so they certainly aren't looking ahead in their schedule this week.
