Now That We Have Won, What Do The Defensive Replacements' Performance Today Say About Our Coaching Staff?

The leash was taken off defense, as well,l as offense. Question is will Rivera LEARN something from this and ride the wave or go back to rivera ball (and his losing tradition)? If he lets the dogs out from here on out, I'm on board with him, we go back to the same crap over the past 2 seasons he can suck it...

I think the replacements they put  in the secondary each had some ability to contribute to today. Guys like Lester and Mitchell are intimidating hard hitting safeties which happen to compliment our strong pass rush beautifully because it looked to me that the Giant WR's were scared to catch passes.

I still believe in Norman to be a good CB and I think White just might  be another gem we can get by with. We need to get Mikell back in the rotation though because he will give us some more versatility as we face different WR cores.

I saw what you all did and agree with defense. But we had Chud play calling with someone who knows how call situationally. That's what I'm more encouraged by.

Rivera showed what it takes today by bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss and beating the bejesus out of someone for once. That's the attitude he projects but never seems to act on. We finally saw behind the stoic, tense Ron Rivera face into his personality by how this team came out today.

I agree, I still start Mikell over Lester when he's ready to come back, but I'm definitely keeping Melvin White on that left side corner spot though.

Look, if we string together some wins and put ourselves in playoff contention, ultimately it won't matter. But, I find it troubling that this rag-tag group of replacements were as dominant as they were today, and yet, it took injuries to completely wipe out our original starters and Rivera knowing he was a game away from being fired to make the changes.

Remember when I suggested that Rivera played favorites to our detriment and thst our organization has long had an issue with just handing out jobs rather than making players comoete and earn them? Many laughed it off.

I know that no one could've predicted THIS, but I think it shows what a problem we have had in personnel decisions under Rivera.

But again, I don't care about the past if he makes it right the rest of this season and learns from his mistakes.

what this defense proved is what I've been saying since 2011, you defense shouldn't fall apart simply because a couple of the players go down.

Good to see that  didn't happen today.

    • I honestly feel bad for Willis. I mean, good that he got a decent (NFL QB speaking) payday and will be set for life, but in terms of actually competing and providing he's a legit starter? The Dolphins are gonna carry $175M in dead cap this year and they have an out in Willis' contract after the 2027 season. This seems like the most obvious tank job in history with Willis signed as cover for it.
    • I was scrolling X (Twitter) and I came across this clip....If I shows up here I'd be shocked.  Anyway it was supposed to highlight the blocking ability of Antonio Williams.  All I noticed is how well Blake Miller moved on pulls and in space.  I'm thinking it should be Miller Time in Carolina. I think with half a season of coaching that either Miller or Iheanachor could end up at LT, specifically Iheanachor with his footwork and those super long arms.  He's raw, but that could be a good thing with those natural athletic gifts.   https://x.com/NFL_DF/status/2033992963659796861?s=20
    • I am using Kelce more as an example of what people think you get with a 1st round TE.    3 f the top 4 yardage guys of all time are 1st rounders. I think. But realize these would be the guys with super long careers, and/or top QBs throwing to them. We don’t have a top QB.    And there have been Plenty of first round disappointments too. More of them than the all time leaders for sure.    We were treating Bryce as the ultimate ‘don’t fug it up’ game manager in order to get a few of those 8 wins. And to stay close in some losses.   1st round picks, starting in 2023 that have been used on a WR or on the QB? 2023 1 (qb) 2024 2 (1 & 32) (qb, wr) 2025 1 (wr) When does it stop?
