Milestones from today

Tom Coughlin's Giants have generally gotten the best of the Panthers, but when we have beaten them, it's been memorable.

The Panthers beat the Giants 41-9 in the next to the last week of the 2009 season. Matt Moore was the starting QB.

The Panthers also blew out - and shut out - Coughlin's Giants in the Wild Card game of the 05 playoffs (in their stadium).

But today's 38 point margin and shutout made this game Tom Coughlin's worst loss as Giants head coach.  Not just his worst loss to the Panthers, his worst to anyone.

For the record, 38 points is also the largest margin of victory in Panthers history.

The shutout was the fifth in team history and the first since 2008 (Chiefs in week 5, 34-0).

Seven sacks ties a team record for most sacks in a game.  They've hit seven a few times, the last time being a year ago against Atlanta.

Carolina was on the wrong side of a sack record last week, but the right side this time, so two straight games with sack records one way or the other.

Melvin White and Robert Lester can both now say that their first interception as a pro was against one of the Manning brothers.

Star Lotulelei got his first professional sack on Eli, as did Kawann Short.  The first two draft picks of Dave Gettleman's GM career got their first sacks against his old team.

Lots of memorable stuff today :D

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
