"I've seen what a feeding frenzy looks like."

"I've seen what a feeding frenzy looks like." - David Gettleman on the virtues of having a monstrous defensive line

Today we saw our first feeding frenzy in the Gettleman Era.

With our young, extremely talented defensive front there is no limit to how far this team can go. Not to mention the offense.

Today all aspects of the game were clicking. I said before the Buffalo game, if we go into the bye at 1-2 we will have a good shot at jumping out to a 6-2 or 5-3 record, and anything can happen from there.

The past two seasons we have come out of the bye very flat.

In 2011 it was the 30-3 beatdown by the Titans. Last year it was the Dallas loss.

These next 4 games is where Rivera has the chance to prove he can be a head coach in the NFL.

if we come off the bye and beat the cards into the ground i'll finally believe rivera's found some sort of groove.

as for feeding frenzies, i'm sure our line is licking their collective chops at the prospect of facing carson palmer's statuesque ass after the bye

In 2010 when I was hoping we would draft Cam I argued that drafting a DT wasn't that big of a deal.

Yeah, I was wrong. Star has been amazing so far and the entire D-line is better because of him.

I'm still glad we got our QB, but I admit I was completely wrong about how much a DT can impact an entire defense.

To be fair I'm kinda glad we waited for Star.  Dude might be a few pegs ahead of Dareus.  Gotta see how the season plays out, still too early.

If he needs to remember what Greg looks like he can just go in the bathroom and look at the imprint on his back.

My favorite hit of all time was when The Kraken smacked the poo out of him and knocked him out of the game. The refs said it was roughing the passer, but that looked like a clean hit to me. It was like watching a panther take down a goat. Beautiful carnage.

Rodeo is the man btw lol

Palmer doesn't need to watch tape on Hardy, he's lived it.

This might explain something we won't have next week:

Ex-New York Giants’ linebacker Chase Blackburn said he helped his new team decipher the Giants’ offense.

“I had an idea of what they run and what they like to do in situations,” Blackburn said. “We had a great game plan going in. I’ve been sharing all the information all week. Guys, all of us, linebackers were out there knowing what to do; (defensive backs) knew what kind of routes they were going to get off the route combinations. It makes for a big difference when you can play the game at that speed. We were able to play fast because we were aware of what they were going to do.”

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
    • I have no doubt the Canes will come out like gangbusters, huge bounce back from game one - my only concern is Freddie, if he lets in a couple of softies and Dobes stays hot we could be in trouble.
