If Star could somehow win DROY

I may just be having a brain fart, but are there any REAL good defensive rookies outside of D-lineman this year? I know Luke didn't come on strong until about week 5 or so last year, so there may be some good linebackers or cornerbacks that will show up big. But this may be the year a D tackle wins it...

Ansah from Detroit is pretty good too, but he's at D-end.

No doubt about the fact that Star has already shown he can be disruptive, and needs to be doubled. Although in and of themselves they are impressive. It usually is the stats guys that get the attention.

That said, if he can up his sacks, and continue to get those tackles for loss. He will get recognized. But, he may not win DROY. Hellz, he is already getting recognition. He just needs to add some of those eye popping stats to give us the 3peat.

It may all be well and good as far as DROY goes. But as far as I'm concerned. He has made our D-line better. And I can live with that.

Alonso is putting up some good stats.

I believe 5 more sacks totaling up to 6 will easily make him a top candidate. Thats not impossible too. I've been keeping up with Star for the last two years at Utah and from my amateur scouting, I thought that Star was a much better interior rusher than giving credit for by some of the top draft experts such as Mike Mayock the man himself.

    • I think his football IQ is well below average. I do not think he can read defenses at all. He is not the long term answer. I'm getting worried about DC. I think he has problems seeing the big picture for each game. Some people can't accept it, but this game is greatly affected by momentum. It's hard to explain but you can just feel his decisions break it at least two or three times a game (I think he is pretty solid when it comes to 4th down decisions). My biggest concern is this. You have seen these coaches time and time again. For some reason you have these coaches that absolutely will not go with what is working. We need a name for these coaches, what is it? If something is working great, they just do not have the intelligence to comprehend that something working is actually good for their team. They cannot understand this. AND REPORTERS NEED TO CALL THIS OUT. Rushing was insane for the past two games...ok let's take half his carries away and have Bryce air it out (look at the attempts he had). The reporters need to freaking ask "((this)) was working, you didn't do ((this)), do you consider that bad coaching? If so, why? If not, why do you defend doing the opposite of what it best?" Anyone knows you keep doing something until they stop it. But you have these coaches that think the are going to pull a fast one on them and do the thing that is not working. Dave is starting to remind me of that guy in the movie Kung Pow. I think his name was Weeblow or something, he had those squeaky shoes when he ran around. The Kung Fu masters trained him wrong as a joke, so he did things to get the crap beat out of him instead of winning the fight. I am going to start calling Dave Canales WEEBLOW if he keeps doing the opposite of what would win. But seriously, if he is going to be that type of coach, I would honestly get rid of him after this season. You 100% do not want a coach with this flaw...they may have one good fluke season but it will be years of terrible teams.
    • I mean the Bronco's only won by 1, but no one there is complaining.
    • A QB who can't consistently throw the ball 20 yards downfield has no business being a starting QB in this league. That is a backup QB who you put in there to manage a game when your starter goes down.
