So then I figured that maybe, despite the fact that I only just noticed them this past weekend, similar visor logos are common around the league. Yet in my image searches for other players who wear visors, I can’t find a single one besides Newton who wears a non-Nike logo on his facemask. The really great picture of Patrick Peterson’s visor that was going around last week shows a Nike swoosh. Those of many other players show no logos whatsoever:

Now that it's been pointed out that the Oakley clip is used on other face masks, I went back to look at the pics the Forbes guy presents as "I can’t find a single one besides Newton who wears a non-Nike logo on his facemask" and all 3 have Oakley logos in them.

Seriously dude?

I'm truly surprised we haven't seen ESPN and NFL Network jump on this story. I figured they would be on this like an oversized bottle on Jacoby Jones' head.

i'd be surprised if they did pick it up because even espn is a bit more educated than that clown who wrote the story and those hack places who scoop it up.

it doesn't take much to know that:

1) many players use either UA or oakley clips

2) it's more a choice of equipment managers as to which brand they use

3) it's a non-story.

I keep telling u folks the endless attack on Can has more than to do with revenge and exercising one's power.I bet u this story eas started by soneone close to ESPN or one of Cam's college rivals who r still butt hurt over Cam not being punished over a fake story.

You can also include the premise, "Cam didn't give them early interviews, or up until now". So therefore, many of them hold a (silly) grudge against him for that, thinking he's 'uppity'. Lol

Once again: I can't pay attention to this logo story. Too much nonsense. Notify me, when it becomes the latest ESPN/NFL Network Cautionary Cam Crisis. Lol

Actually, Cam use to give them endless stories. It was they who fug it up when they started spinning everything he said to created endless stories about their own desire to mis-quoting him.

Sadly if you pay attention to today's media, such irresponsible behavior as this one, is the new norm. Putting out half or untrue stories that can then be spunned endlessly to keep the story alive and in turn give the creator of the story much needed attention, was how ESPN got started. Now it seems many do it for their own personal attention without regard to how the athlete may feel. After all, why should a bunch of lies really hurt someone who is making millions. At least that's their rational. Really!!!

This poo makes me sick. Everybody's taking shots at the Panthers and Cam. Finding anything and everything to nitpick at. I don't understand why Cam is treated so harshly and just outright disrespected by the media, while fellow number 1 draft picks Matthew Stafford and Sam Bradford lead shitty teams and no one talks about them. Its like everyone has deep personal issues. Listening to the media talk about Cam is like listening to Fox News talk about the president.

Said it before.  I don't really think they hate him.  Most sports guys don't have deep personal feelings about guys they cover unless they know them personally.

Generally speaking, they just have a negative perception of him that most are too lazy to bother verifying because he doesn't play for an 'important' team.

Until the Panthers become more relevant, there's no compelling reason for the national guys to wonder if they're being fair or not, other than journalistic integrity.

(and if you think that exists in modern sports media, I've got bad news for you...) :(

Bottom Line: They just don't know any better.  Should they?  Absolutely, but good luck on that given that nobody much cares but Panther fans.

U must have missed the Draft 2011 where these same folks went out of their way to find any negative story on Cam. How about his short stint at Auburn, where some of these writers went in on Cam as if he robbed a bank and got away with it.

I don't know if they all hate Cam but the endless attack against him seems very spiteful, vicious, and quite personal. Yes, there are bottomfeeders who will jump on any story to gain some much needed attention but one cannot over look the reality of this young man not doing anything to these folks and them just always looking for ways to punish him.

The desparate desire to always get Cam in trouble at any turn, reeks of revenge because someone didn't get what they wanted from the NCAA. In other words...Power tripping.

Let's not forget, the NFL is not much different from the NCAA. They are usually willing to throw certain folks under the bus to save the behinds of those the media more prefer.

Also, this the media dislike for this team has nothing to do with Cam. I don't even think they dislike this team as much as they have their chosen few and the Panthers, like others, don't fit in unless they are playing and playing well.

You know, in the end, all this hate will be good for Cam. If he can survive the initial onslaught (and it looks like he has) then he will become that much stronger and capable of facing adversity. He's been under an obscene amount of scrutiny and that chip on his shoulder has to be near mountain-sized by now. All the better for when he takes out his frustration on the rest of the league. He will makes defenses beg for mercy in the end.

he definitely hears it. In that one interview with smitty he had the host asked if he listens to the criticism and football tmz talk. He pretty much said those people tend to forget that he is human, that he has made mistakes but is a good person but he has got a great group of friends, family and teammates that support him and help him stay focused on what really matters and help him never forget who he truly is.

tbh i would have shriveled into a ball if i had the kind of heat Cam has taken the past 4 years. the kinds of things that have been said about him would make me lose my mind if they were said about me. i couldnt handle that poo and would have flipped out left and right.
