Ownership

I believe our only hope in becoming relevant in the league again is to have new ownership here or for JR to hire someone like Polian to run the team and step aside.  JR has overpaid players but has gone the cheap route in coaching and management since Siefert.   Polian is a proven winner and talent evaluator (who evaluation of Cam will probably disappoint loads of Panther's fans when he is proven right).   I will always thank JR for getting the Panthers here.  I will always fault him for overstaying his welcome.

Told me all I needed to know about JR and the organization when Andrew Luck decided to stay at Stanford and not come here.

You mean the guy who wanted to finish his degree from one of the most prestigious schools in the country, who admitted he has pulled for the Panthers since he seen them in the Super Bowl?

You also just pointed out that JR "overpaid" people. Regardless that that statement is absurd, and not the truth, but players would want to play here knowing they'll get paid extra.

LOL!  You actually believe that nonsense?  I'm not saying Luck ducked us.  Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.  Maybe he just really enjoyed college life and being a college QB.  Can't knock him for that.  But, you can always finish a degree in the offseason like Cam did.  If you have a chance to be the #1 overall pick AND go to the team that you've pulled for since '03, you fuging GO.  At least he let us down nicely and didn't pull a douche move like the Mannings did with Eli with the Chargers.

Either way, I ain't even mad.  Cam Newton isn't our problem.

I think he just wanted to try and win a national championship, honestly. I harbor no ill will towards the guy for it like a lot of Panthers fans.

I believe it.

Luck said long before he ever became a top prospect that he wanted to finish school in four years, and he did.

His dad also called Jerry to advise him the panthers had nothing to do with his choice.  He said he respected jerry Richardson as an owner and would have been happy to have Andrew play here.

Hell no on Bill Polian. Keep him far far far away.

Jerry is where our problems begin though. He's stuck in his ways of the past and unwilling to change.

I worry that Gettleman was just hired as a yes man. JR already forced Rivera on him. Who's really in charge? Not Gettleman.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
