Is Rivera Done Now?

You don't normally see a media outlet especially NFLN report a team is in search of a new head coach 1/4 of the way into the season unless something drastic is going to happen. 

 

Did Gettleman let that cat out of the bag with this one?

 

After last night debacle and 0-3 after a bye I think we have seen enough.   Would you be against a midseason change?

 

I wouldn't mind.  I think I would like to see an offensive mind come in and put Carolina in the high scoring offense we can be.  You don't have to have a defensive minded coach to have a great defense.

Whether he is currently "done" or not, I highly doubt he gets fired during the season.

And IMO, Rivera was done as soon as Gettleman was hired.  He's a lame duck.  Sucks that we've wasted two of the last four seasons with lame duck coaches.  If you're gonna move on, move on.  You can't just throw away seasons.

Buddy of mine said Gettleman denied the background check story.  I didn't see it.

 

Regardless, yes he's done.  He may still finish out the season, but I see little to no chance he's coaching this team next year.

Gettleman didn't let anything out of the bag, I think someone leaked that they were doing a background check on someone. There wasn't a Panthers announcement or anything.

While I really would love to be wrong, JR is not going to fire a coach mid season.

 

Something about making people work for what they're paid for etc.

With 3 winnable games coming up, I don't think you pull the plug on Rivera yet.  However, if we don't go at least 2-1 out of the next 3, I think you go ahead and jerk the bandaid off.

That's a pretty good source.  Of course, even if it's true, Gettleman really has no choice right now but to strongly deny it.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if the "leak" was done with that timing, for nefarious purposes. It didn't come out after a big loss, it came out hours before a season defining game.

 

Still Rivera was dead in the water with 2 seconds left  in the Bills game. You don't preach to us all offseason about how you learned your lessons and this time it's different then go and do the same Fing thing in week 2.

David Newton definitely has better team access than Ian Rapoport.

 

Would love to know the actual source of the story, but i doubt that happens.
