Bismack Biyombo

Like you said, just preseason. But it's definitely encouraging. Biz has always had the blocks and rebounds in him. Hopefully just focusing on those and not worrying about offense will allow him to have monster games like that on occasion.

He also had 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks in only 12 minutes against Miami the night before, coming in after Jefferson went down. Not too bad.

Biz can be a solid rotation guy for defense/rebounding.

Not what I want to hear about the 7th pick in a draft, however. Especially when guys like Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Shumpert, Tobias Harris, Faried, and others were drafted after him.

I wanted Kawhi

So Biz dropped 5 points, 11 boards, and 2 blocks last night.   Not bad.  If he can start scoring around 10ppg I'd be happy with the pick.  You know he'll get the blocks and boards.   I may be in the minority but I think he's progressing well, considering his lack of basketball experience heading in.

The problem with Biz starting is that MKG also doesn't score points.  I think a team can deal with a defensive player in the starting 5 but I'm not sure you can handle 2 of them.

I like Biz, but I just do not know if he will ever be a starter on a playoff caliber team. As Zaximus mentioned, it's tough to have both Biz and MKG in your starting lineup, and while a great defensive big will impact the game more than a great defensive wing player -- MKG has more tools to become an All-Star than Biz does. Also not to mention that MKG showed more last year as the youngest player in the NBA than Biz has at any point of his (still very young) career. MySynergy (one of my favorite basketball sites) only had one of our players grade out as a ++ type of defensive player and that was MKG. Biz has always graded out well below average, but I'm sure part of that is due to not only being young, but also having trash defensive players/coaches around him.

Yea, I'm loving how Biyombo is playing in the Preseason right now. But, didnt he played well in the Preseason last year too? I think he is improving wisely off the board and I have no problem with that. He isnt going to be an offensive player anytime soon. I just hope that it will translate into the regular season. I would be excited to see a 6PPG, 10RBG, 2BPG stat line for Biz this season.

From what I see in preseason Biz has worked on his on-ball defense and picking up defenders, instead of going for the big block and letting his target pass the ball away for an easy score.  This is guy that has played basketball possibly less than some of us on THIS forum lol.   His attitude is great and he plays hard, it's going to take some time.  He'll never score 20ppg and that's fine, just keep improving defense and possibly some post moves and that's cool.  I think he'll grade out better this year.

    • I would say that he's pulling things out of his ass to get people to visit his site.
    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
