It's Time for Some Good Horror Movies!

I love Halloween and I love horror movies. Who else is geared up for the season, and what is on the viewing agenda?

Graduate school is kicking my ass, but I am trying to make time when possible to watch some good scary flicks. I see Phantasm I and II, Halloween marathon, The Exorcist, Fright Night, Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, Trick r Treat, The Shining, and The Fly in my immediate future.

Also, my girlfriend and I are going to Carmike in Greenville, NC to see the 35th anniversary release of Halloween. Should be awesome to see on the big screen.

I grew up kinda numb to scary movies. My mom was a huge horror fan so I spent many a weekend watching all sorts of slasher flicks.

The weird thing was that the ones that were supposed to be funny (The Evil Dead series, House, etc) were the only ones that scared me when I was young.

I love the Psycho movies - not the least bit scary, but for the most part, well written. The original Halloween is still my favorite slasher flick of all time.

Some of the supernatural horror movies give me the chills now. I liked the original Omen more than the remake.

Classics: The original Halloween, The Shining, and the first Nightmare On Elm Street.

The Conjuring is very good, Insidious 1 was good (meh on the sequel), and Sinister I enjoyed (ending could have been better).

I didn't even realize Halloween was going to be showing at some local theaters, might have to see that.

However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup.
