Sam Bradford

Cam's New Arm

Recommended Posts

Here lies the difference between Sam and Cam. I just saw the Panthers light where Cam throws a perfect ball to Smitty as he was getting knocked to his ass. But on this site, folks believe Cam is suppose to play well, so Smitty gets the credit and praise for doing what he is suppose to do as a WR, catcht the ball.

Eh, people poo on Smitty when he drops passes, too, even if they aren't the easiest catches (but especially when they are...).  And the vast majority of us consistently say Cam needs more weapons.  I don't think the majority of people here expect Cam to play amazingly well or anything... and in STL, there are people saying that a certain high drafted WR needs to play better for his young QB, so I'm not sure what you are getting at.

You really missed the point of the "Cam is improving" thread, but I'm not surprised since you somehow think I'm a Cam hater.  I have no idea if Bradford is improving or not, but I know he's been playing well, whereas Cam has taken some flak this year because he has had a bad game and a lot of critical fans that want to see us actually winning.  The QB takes more blame during losses and garners more of the accolades during wins than he deserves, but that's the NFL.  I think Cam has gotten it too hard lately which is why I made the thread I did.

Cam gets a lot of praise around here, but there are some fans that dislike him for one reason or another.  Some of that I think is just flat out racism.  in other cases, it's just... weird bias.  Not sure.  But I think overall, Cam is treated harsher in the media itself than he should be.  I don't think people watch him actually play.  This may be an issue elsewhere as well, frankly, but this is the team I follow so it's what I notice.

I hear you, I dont mock but I can find the humor in it is what im trying to to explain to you. I have two acl reconstructions myself and could really give two shits what happens to Mr 50 Mil.

You see, Bradford is the last remnant of an old era when rookie QB's used to rob franchises blind. Our Qb is the first of the new era. . . Last/ First see? now look at their careers. . . now look at how much Cam gets criticized versus Sammy.

You follow me? No fugs given for Sammy.

Yeah I can see what your point is. My thing is, the contract/ media attention isn't something Bradford himself personally created. He was first chosen in the last season of a flawed system. I choose to just hate the media altogether. I bet todays headline reads "panthers injure Bradford in dirty win over Rams". Cam won't ever get positive talk unless he wins like 3 superbowls. Bradford might be scrutinized for whatever reason, but either way as a fan of the body of work Bradford is & person he seems to be based off of body language. He's a lot of like Larry Fitz to me, guys who don't taunt and play the game the right way. If Janoris had been the one who tore the ACL, id be the first one lining up to pop together a meme, as odd and as hypocritical as it sounds lol

Hmm I understand but let me say this. Nature is a cruel mufugger, ok? It doesnt care which little baby rabbit seems the most wholesome. . . he's just gonna get eaten no matter what because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Any animal that gets the privileged to live should be grateful that they didnt end up like the lil poor baby rabbit.

Bradford has been very privileged so far, he has prospered, so should we feel bad for him? Nope, he's rich and still might have a shot at playing again.

You must have missed the Smitty is the Greatest threat that was up a week or so ago. The person actually had the nerve to say Cam throws the ball to high for Smitty to catch.

Also, I didn't miss your point. I just believe some of you really do take Cam for granted.  I also agree that some on here do have a serious agenda against your QB that isn't very healthy. Let's just put it that way

I must admit, I do love this site. You guys are clearly one of a kind.

As a whole,  I want the Panthers to succeed. I am a bit more objective and see the team a little differently than many of you. I see a young team with a couple of older players still holding on. But, I do see a shift in power and hope that it's the better for this team.

Sam is a classy guy. And I don't get when people say oh he's rich so they are indifferent about the injury. It's not his fault that you are broke.  If you ever get the opportunity of being rich, you would understand.

Sam looked like he was in a lot of pain after the tackle. :( . I hope he gets well soon.

There was also a week or two ago a thread about how Smitty should leave after this season.  So... I don't think it is universal that he is never at fault at all, and on top of that, given his history here he is always going to be highly regarded and allowed to make mistakes IMO.

And I agree with you that people here take Cam for granted.  I am glad our FO & owner are not the same as our fans or I'd fear we'd lose Cam.

Bradford isn't a bad guy,his teammates may be douche bags, but in all his interviews seems to be cool. Don't wish harm on him or Karma may come back and bite you in the ass. How about showing some class or is Madden all some of you guys have in life?

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
